Chapter 1- Kate
I ran. I ran without looking back. I kept running. I ran until my demons fell away, my fear, my loss, my hate. I left it all behind as I ran. I ran until all that was left was a numb coldness, a coldness that twisted and grew into a cold, hard determination to survive. For me. For Jake. I ran, never looking back for fear of him. I’ve been running across the country always believing he was right behind me, even when I knew he wouldn’t follow me after what happened. I still believed he was about to catch me and drag me back.
