A scream interrupted the silent midnight air as Camila bolted awake from yet another nightmare. The pale moonlight slightly illuminated her room as she looked around, examining her surroundings for threats. The petite brunette clutched her hands over her chest and took a few deep breaths, trying to regain control over her panicking body. Memories came flooding back to Camila without warning, cursing her mind, and sending her in and out of panic attacks for the next couple of hours. Camila couldn't take it anymore. She needed that numbness she craved all too often. The small girl found herself stumbling out of bed and over to her nightstand. She shakily fumbled with the clear plastic bag before dumping out one of the rectangle bars and crushing it up, drawing the powder out into a thin line. This should do the trick, Camila thought as she rolled up a bill and snorted the substance off of the table. She couldn't help herself and found herself drawing another line... then another. Taking a deep inhale, she felt sweet relief from the pain of her trauma. She didn't have to feel it anymore. Camila reached into the bin under her nightstand and grabbed out her weed baggie so she could pack herself a few bong hits.

There was a sharp knock at Camila's door. Camila didn't answer. She'd completely forgotten her best friend, Lauren, was supposed to come over today. Lauren, who was worried by Camila's lack of response considering the recent events of her abusive boyfriend finally being locked away where he should be, and had a spare key, let herself in. "Camila?" She called out. No response. She decided on heading upstairs to Camila's room to look for her. Maybe she's just taking a nap, Lauren thought to herself as she ascended the stairs. When Lauren entered Camila's room and didn't see her sleeping in her bed, she was instantly filled with anxiety for her younger friend. Bathroom maybe? When Lauren walked into the bathroom, her heart was broken by the sight of her best friend passed out with her head on the toilet with throw up all down her shirt and on the floor. It also looked like she'd had an accident. Poor thing. Lauren was worried the small girl had overdosed and the first thing she did was check her pulse. Luckily, it was strong. The green-eyed girl sighed out of relief, now making it her objective to get Camila cleaned up and back into bed. Lauren bent down and gently moved Camila's hair out of her face. "Camila," she sang as she shook the girl gently. Camila groaned a little. "Hey, sweetie, hey... look at  me," Lauren requested, tilting Camila's head up with her finger on her chin so she could get a better look at her. Lauren softly caressed Camila's cheek with her thumb, "What did you take, hun," Lauren pleaded, thinking out loud. Camila was finally starting to open her eyes and respond to Lauren a little bit by mumbling so Lauren stepped away a couple of feet to run the inebriated girl a bath. While the water was running, Lauren headed back over to Camila to help her out of her clothes. "Okay, darling. I'm gonna help you out of your clothes now," Lauren explained. Lauren was gentle with Camila as she helped her out of her clothes and put them aside in the hamper. Lauren reached over, turning the faucet off before walking back over to Camila. She bent down, "Camz, I'm gonna put you in the tub. Okay?" Camila didn't protest as Lauren picked her up and placed her in the bath. Lauren lovingly washed Camila up before draining the tub and helping the smaller girl out, catching her as she nearly tripped over the edge of the tub. "Careful, hun," Lauren spoke softly as she guided Camila to her bed. Lauren had decided she couldn't stand by and watch Camila abuse herself anymore and, after a discussion with Camila's mom, decided to move in with Camila.
