*Next chapter to Fellowship of the Hallows...
1 hour earlier….
Ezra Fenrin ran through the forest. A pack of valuable stolen goods hung at his side as he wielded an intricate sword. He had also stolen this. As he ran he heard the guards behind him, the sound of the armor rang out through the forest.
He lept over a fallen tree, smirking as the soldiers caught sight of him. He backed up and said. ‘’Do you really want to do this?’’
The captain of the guard raised his crossbow. ‘’I guess so.’’ Ezra gave a nervous grin and bolted. He jumped a gap, river gushing below. Seizing the vines, he yanked himself up. When he reached the top, he was disappointed with the result of his clothing.
‘’I just stole this shirt.’’ He moaned staring down at the muddy material. An arrow whistled past his head and that made him forget all about the shirt. He sprinted away, hearing the guards shouting behind him.
He had stolen very valuable items. These items happened to be from the palace itself. He grinned at his triumph which faded as he reached a cliff side. A thick fog shielded the ground from view. Therefore he could not determine how far down it went. He stared down, pacing the edge when he suddenly felt a spear tip in his back.
He faced the captain of the guard and said. ‘’Come on.’’
‘’Hand the items over and come with me…quietly.’’
Ezra sighed and said. ‘’We might have a problem here. You see I have no intention giving these up and …trust me I can’t shut up at times…so being quiet is nearly impossible.’’ He grinned.
The captain rolled his eyes and made a grab at him. Ezra just smirked and fell backwards of the cliff side.
‘’You bastard!’’ The captain yelled. Watching as Ezra fell through the thick fog.
This is going to hurt, Ezra thought.
He fell no more than ten feet and landed on his back. He groaned rolling over. The fog gave the appearance that the cliff was much higher than it actually was.
He stood up stretching. ‘’Damn.’’ His back was sore. Rubbing his back, he picked up the pack of items and found the sword a few feet away.
The king’s sword was strange. It had dragon markings down the flat of its blade. He ran his finger down the dragon and smirked. ‘’This is going to be worth a lot.’’
He walked off into the forest line. As he walked the fog began to vanish and he found himself alone, bathed in golden sunlight. He sensed someone nearby and immediately his sword clashed against someone else’s. He looked up and grinned. His older brother Solomon Fenrin stood with a wide grin.
‘’I see that you have completed your task.’’ He snatched the bag from Ezra’s grasp and walked towards a tree. He spilled the content onto a stump and began admiring the objects.
Another figure sighed. It was his other older brother. Fenrir Fenrin. Fenrir stepped toward Ezra. ‘’So little brother…did you actually complete something in your life.’’
Ezra pushed this aside. Fenrir was always like that. ‘’What is this little brother.’’ Fenrir wrenched the King’s sword from his grasp. Fenrir admired the blade, his green eyes widened.
‘’Dear brother you have out done yourself.’’ Fenrir turned to Solomon. ‘’It’s the King’s sword.’’
‘’Impossible.’’ Solomon stood up and studied the sword with Fenrir.
Ezra crossed his arms and gave a charming grin saying. ‘’I knew it could be done.’’
Fenrir laughed and handed the sword to Solomon who stowed it away safely.
Ezra gave a triumphant smirk then said. ‘’How did you know I would be here?’’
Well we simply followed you…easy…well I followed you.’’ Fenrir shrugged and said. ‘’Seems I am not the only one good a stealth...considering you stole the King’s sword.’’
Solomon slung the pack over his shoulder and said. ‘’We better move on.’’
They started through the forest. The hike through was beautiful. A waterfall thundered nearby as cool wind blew over them. Ezra could help but feel a sense of anticipation in the air. It began to rain, beating harder and harder with each step they took. As they neared a hill; they heard shouts. Reaching the top; they saw several men and women flee from an old worn home. He started down the hill wondering what all the commotion was about. Suddenly a flash of red light illuminated the windows of the house and an ear piercing scream filled the air.
‘’What the hell!’’ Ezra muttered. He dropped the pack and began racing towards the home.
He reached the porch, a single rocking chair sat by the front door; a black cat continued sleeping peacefully in it as if nothing happened.
‘’Ezra!’’ Fenrir yelled. ‘’We have to go…this is none of our business!’’
Ezra ignored him and kicked the wooden door open. He entered the hall, smoke curled from the room to the right of him. He entered only to find a dead old woman and a girl. The girl faced him; her eyes a glowing red and strange markings up her arms. Ezra stepped back, yelling as she reached towards him.
‘’Nerey ce Laigini.’’ She spoke. Her voice was eerie, but as soon as she finished those words. Her eyes returned to normal. She blinked and gave him a confused look. Her eyes were half closed and she swayed a moment before collapsing onto the wooden floor.
