"No" was the first thing Azuma Shina said as she stepped into the room, her dark hair pulled back while her navy blue eyes settled on the person in front of her.

Masamichi Yaga sighed, arranging the paperwork spread out across his desk before narrowing his eyes towards the girl. Shina had always been difficult, but it seemed her time abroad had only worsened this particular rebel streak of hers. Shina pursed her lips, flicking her hair off and stomping her hand over the desk. The ice creeped in slowly, turning the wood into a hard cold slab of ice before she slid her sunglasses down her nose.

"I have plans, a life I want to get back to" she stressed, but Yaga simply rolled his eyes.

Shina wanted to go back, not that he could blame her. Her time in Japan hadn't been particularly nice, and she and her family were never well received by the community. The Azuma clan was rich, but the money they owned was not enough to fix the tears of the past. Shina knew this, which is why she left in the first place – to somewhere far away from Japan and the nasty influences her family still held.

It was easy, running away to the other side of the globe and starting a new life, but time had finally caught up and Shina was forced to return. She hated Japan – something she'd made clear since she first touched down at the airport, but it wasn't that hate that bubbled in her veins now. Instead, it was an entirely different kind of venom.

"Your parents were very clear about the terms of the arrangement" Masamichi began, ignoring the young woman's tantrum as the ice receded back into her skin "This is only a temporary solution, at least until your fiancé returns from his assignment"

Fiancé. She didn't even know the guy, and yet he was already ruining all her fun and controlling her life, just like her parents. For a moment, Shina wished she was back in the states, working with her team and exorcising curses from the safety of the Institute. Instead, she was here, surrounded by people she didn't like and drowned in the tarnished tatters of her family name.

Being an Azuma used to mean something, but that was long before her brother went an ruined it all. Not it was her job to restore the family honour – in the only way she could, which apparently was through an arranged marriage she had no choice in. She hated this, hated it with all her heart.

But she couldn't go back, not now that her family had cut off all of her money. All she had left was this marriage, even if she didn't want it.

"I don't even know the guy" she huffed out despite the fact that she knew Masamichi had nothing to do with this "...and I'm just supposed to wait for him? I'm a sorceress, for God's sake! There are better things I could be doing right now"

Yaga sighed, and although the annoyance was clear in his tone, he also felt for the girl. Shina hadn't chosen any of this, but just like many other jujutsu sorcerers, she was bound by her families' blood.

"I'm sorry, but the whole thing has already been decided" he set another pile of papers in front of him before shrugging "You can work at the school in an administrative role to keep you busy, but that's all I can offer you right now. I'm sure you understand"

Right, because her brother was a Curse User. Having her on as an actual teacher would be bad for the school's imagine. Shina sighed but nodded, taking whatever she could get. At least she was trying, which was far more than what she'd done during her previous engagements. She was tired or running.

"Fine" she conceded, cheeks puffed in annoyance "Who's going to be playing my bodyguard, anyway?" she asked nonchalantly as she pushed herself off the desk and away from Yaga.

The man hesitated for a moment. Shina's family had requested Gojo Satoru for a reason, but looking at the woman in front of him maybe having the Ice Princess guarded by the Strongest Sorcerer Alive was a bad idea after all. The two sorcerers hadn't gotten along at all during their time together, which was very brief, and yet Yaga wouldn't trust anyone else with Shina's safety.

"Well, about that..." he took a deep breath, already anticipating her reaction as her eyebrow rose "Gojo Satoru was personally requested by your family, so he'll be doing most of the work"

Fuck. Fate really did hate her, huh?
