she flew into my life like a butterfly
she took me under her lush wings
a flower that doesn't even smell
broken into a million pieces
scared, I looked her in the eye and asked
"will you fly away too?"
she gave me a sad smile
showing me empathy
she swung her head from side to side
I bowed my head again, thinking how someone like her could be next to someone like me
she was indeed there
she gave me warmth under her wings
like the warmth of your home
she gave me a sense of security
every day was like christmas
but slowly she was disappearing
I was losing her even if I didn't know it at the time
she saw a beautiful flower
lush and full of life
everything i'm not
security was lost slowly
but the love I had for my butterfly
it didn't disappear
and it blinded me
oh that blinding love
what is it doing
until one day my butterfly wasn't there
she was no longer here
she was already on another flower
enjoying the scent of another flower
and gave her the love I was longing for
but I was not like any other flower
all the petals fell from me
my butterfly flew away.
