The next few months seemed to drag on slowly, not that I was complaining. Spending time with Eddie and Ivy, watching them bond and become close made my heart soar with love.
Then there was the testing at the lab. Anything they could think of, they tested him for. We found out that his abilities can, will and have grown, but with that he needed more of the synthetic blood. There was worry that it may not be enough in the future, and that was definitely a problem we needed to find a solution for.
Eddie also started developing new abilities and the ones he currently had grew with the testing. His strength was growing, he could smell things from almost a mile away. His hearing was unmatched and he could hear what others were thinking at times.
The smell of blood made him almost feral, but the biggest thing for us was how easy he was turned on. His eyes were black far more than they were normal. We were having sex daily, sometimes multiple times. It never seemed to be enough for him, and the more it happened the rougher it got. We established boundaries if it got too much for me, but I was still covered in bruises that were easily covered by clothing.
The lab was working to find a way to curb some of the more problematic abilities, but they just seemed to grow at an almost alarming rate. For the first time since getting him back, I was worried for him. I didn't know how to help him. He seemed to be struggling with certain aspects of his abilities, mainly the bloodlust and his sex drive.
Eddie always felt horrible after sex, seeing what he had done to my body. I tried to assure him that I was ok, but that did nothing to help.
Then I started getting nauseous and tired all the time and I figured it was from working so much and not really eating as much as i should.
"Maybe you're pregnant." Robin joked. I was spending time with her and Nancy. We were at the park with Ivy, just relaxing. That joke came after I mentioned that my usual coffee order suddenly made me want to vomit. I was telling them all of the other things happening, needing a good venting session with my girls.
"Robin, I don't think that's possible." Nancy said, almost like she wasn't too sure herself.
"Well, didn't the lab say he's still human in most ways? Maybe it is. When was your last period?" Robin asked, and that's when I started to panic a bit.
"Uh, just before he came back, I think. Oh, god, am I about to have a baby vampire?!" I asked, starting to panic a little more. I never thought about having another baby, especially when I thought Eddie was dead.
"Well, there's only one way to find out." Nancy said softly, going to grab Ivy. We gathered into her car and stopped at the pharmacy on the way home, buying a few pregnancy tests. Thankfully Eddie wasn't home when we got back, a note telling me he was with the boys was left on the counter. I went to the bathroom right away and took every test we bought. I couldn't sit and wait, so I went out to feed Ivy. After 10 minutes, Robin went to check them and came back out with all of them.
Positive. All 12 of them are positive. Well fuck.
"Well, now what? Obviously you need to tell Eddie, but after that?" Nancy asked, cleaning Ivy up and getting her ready for her afternoon nap. I really loved that I have so much help, especially considering I'm freaking the fuck out.
"I have no idea Nance, that all depends on how Eddie reacts." As I said that, I heard a car pull up. I shushed them knowing he could hear from out there and hid the tests. When he walked in, he made his way over to me and kissed my head.
"Hey Dove, missed you today."
"I missed you too, baby. Did you have fun with the boys?" I asked, hoping he couldn't sense my panic. That was too much to ask for apparently because he turned to look at me, one eyebrow cocked up.
"What's wrong Dove? I can feel your heartbeat racing." he said, walking over to me and rubbing my arms. A calming move, that didn't work.
"Yea, well no. I'm not sure to be honest." I said, walking over to the drawer I hid the tests in and pulled them out. Eddie's eyes shot up and looked at me with panic in his eyes.
"You're pregnant? Are you sure?" He asked.
"Eddie, there's 12 tests, all positive. I'm sure."
"I didn't think it was possible," he said quietly.
"I didn't either, baby. But here we are."
"We need to go to the lab. Now. We need answers and I'm sure they're the only ones who'd have them. Will you ladies stay here with Ivy?" he asked Robin and Nancy.
"Of course Eddie. Do what you need to do. We'll be here. And we won't say anything either."
Nancy said, shooing us out the door.
