Since moving to Pelican Town, strange things have been happening to (y/n). She'd hear sounds outside late at night and things would occasionally be moved or go missing. One time, she found her favorite snake plant had been knocked over, dirt spilling everywhere. Another time, she noticed her kitchen trash had been rummaged through. Whether it was a ghost or something else, (y/n) didn't know. It freaked her out, so she tried not to think about it. Some days, it seemed the only thing keeping her from losing it are her friends Sebastian, Abigail, and Sam. They always knew how to make her feel better. This morning was especially rough. (Y/n) got up from yet another sleepless night and looked at herself in the mirror only to find sleep-deprived eyes staring back at her. Sighing, (y/n) got ready for the day. She was to spend it at the beach with her friends. It was set to be a hot, yet beautifully sunny day. (Y/n) quickly threw on her (f/c) swimsuit and grabbed her things before heading out the door.
On her long trek to the beach, she took in the sights of the valley. The mountain air was refreshing and the flowers nearby were vibrant shades of reds and purples. As she approached the town, she noticed the few buildings and the friendly atmosphere. One of the things she loved about Pelican Town was how friendly everyone is- most of them anyway. The rocky path was brutal beneath (y/n)'s (f/c) sandals, emitting a small crunch sound with every step. It wasn't long before the stone bridge leading to the beach appeared in sight. Without notice, (y/n) felt a pair of arms wrap around her.
"Hey, I knew you'd make it," The familiar voice proclaimed. It was Sam, one of her best friends.
She turned around suddenly, "What the hell? That scared me!"
"I know, that's the fun," He grinned, running his hand through his blond spikey hair. (Y/n) hated to admit it, but she found Sam to be quite attractive. Something about the way his hair complimented his features and his blue-green eyes that could pierce through her soul piqued (y/n)'s interest. She'd never admit her feelings though. Some things are better left in the dark.
"You're such a handful," (Y/n) teased, a smile starting to crack at her lips.
"That's why you guys love me," Sam replied with a sheepish smile.
The pair continued to walk to the beach where Abigail and Sebastian were waiting for them. (Y/n) waved and jogged towards her friends, sand shifting under her feet with each step. Once she met up with her friends, she set her things down on the soft sand, laying out her towel neatly next to Abigail's.
"What's up?" Abigail questioned.
"Not much, this one here gave me quite a scare though," She replied, pointing at Sam, who laughed softly.
"I can't help it," He replied, " The perfect opportunity was there and I had to take it."
"You're too much sometimes," Abigail laughed.
Sebastian piped up, "Are we getting in the water or what?"
Everyone set out for the dock, joking and laughing as they went. Hours passed and everyone was having a good time. There was a lot of splashing and inside jokes. However, something seemed off. Sam spent a lot of time staring at (y/n) and spacing off. He was infatuated with how beautiful she looked and seeing her in a swimsuit made him fall even harder. This crush was nothing new, he developed feelings the first day that she moved to Pelican Town. When she started hanging out with his friends, Sam was overjoyed to have the opportunity to get closer to her. However, Sam's feelings for (y/n) seemed to take over a lot of his free time. He was always planning on how to get closer to (y/n) and daydreaming about her. What he couldn't tell the others though, was how often he spent time at (y/n)'s house. Some nights, he would sneak in and watch her sleep. On other nights, he'd take a thing or two. Sam loved the scent of her clothes, so occasionally he'd swipe a shirt or towel from her bathroom.
