War was inevitable.
Ben just didn't want to be part of it. But he had no choice.
It was a requirement back in university to have military training and even if he turned to lead a life as a librarian, the fact that he is a reserved soldier was never erased.
Indeed, it held more meaning when his country declared war on another.
His call to the war effort was instant and in less than a few hours he was brought to a garrison to prepare for dispatch.
It happened swiftly and because he was one of those who stayed for longer military training back in university, he was instantly given the role of an officer. He was a lieutenant.
And a pretty damn good one.
He was precise as he shot and stealthy in his movements.
He just wanted the war over and done with, and to do that, his country had to come out victorious.
For a whole year, his goal in mind never changed. Kill the enemy and survive. That was it.
But he never expected that it would change because of one supposedly insignificant person in his life...
...who never carried the same views as him.
