Alabama Waves
The unfamiliar salty smell lingered in my nose even after I was miles from the ocean to where I was staying. I remember the sand, grainy and hard and yet so soft as it flowed through the cracks of my fingers. The sounds of the waves crashing against the abandoned beach. The large expanse of the ocean seems to stretch on forever, meeting the horizon line where bursts of color broke out and reflected over the surface.
Gulls soared overhead with their caws echoing across the hills of sand. Clouds hang above, suddenly darkening the once brilliantly colored sky. They begin to disperse, however, as wispy and distorted rainbows pierced through, reflecting the light from the sun onto the sky and through the clouds.
