While riding through the forest, I felt so alone. Sure I had Alex, but there's only so much comfort a cat can give you when you're used to people. The woods were quiet, only the sound of my bike, the leaves on the path, and the creaking of trees. The trees were bare, long and skinny trees with no leaves, all leaves were on the floor. You couldn't see any buildings for miles, just trees. Tall barren trees. I was lost in thought, kind of like being on autopilot. Alex snapped me out of my daydreaming, his hair was on end, he was slightly hissing.

I looked up from the road to look at him, then I looked in the direction he was staring in. My heart dropped into my stomach. A few yards away was one of these awful creatures. They were hideous. This one was extremely large. I didn't get a good look at them in the beginning but now, It didn't see me so i could take in all its disgusting features. The arms might as well be bones and skin, Their ribs are sticking out and their ribs stick out more than their stomach. Actually their stomach's don't even stick out at all. They had long legs, and at the bottom were claws. Three claws on one foot, one in the back, and two in the front. Their hands were massive and each 'finger' was a talon.

I grabbed Alex and dropped my bike carefully. I dropped it a little too loud and this creature looked in our direction. But luckily for Alex and I, we got behind a rock before the bike contacted the floor. We could hear its footsteps coming closer, loud thumps made these things easily identifiable. I could hear soft chitters of curiosity towards my bike.

These creatures were obviously intelligent. Probably more so than us humans. They seemed to have their own language and communicated fluently, it's possible to learn this language by the looks of it. However it seems that they make more sounds rather than words but that may also be because I haven't exactly stuck around to have a conversation and drink tea with one of them.

Despite me talking shit about them, they were beautiful in a way. I know that is the opposite of what I said earlier, but now that I'm looking at one this close, and it's not attacking, I can truly see their beauty.

Their skin, the darkest black I've ever seen. Like a void in a human shape, darker than the black of space. Their eyes and mouth were the complete opposite of their lengthy body. White, but whiter than fresh snow on a mountain top. Like the blinding white of a flash grenade. And they would Glow. A light in the dark woods. Their hands and feet, if that's what you'd call them, I'd call them talons, they were massive and probably the sharpest things I've ever seen. When on a hard surface like concrete, they clacked like horse hooves, or dragging a knife on the floor. They had three claws in their feet, two in front and one in the back. Along with four fingers and a thumb just like a human.

They seemed so sweet when not attacking. This creature was on all fours and lifting my bike, looking at it with a tilted head and soft, gentle chitters and purring like a kitten. It was cute in a way, the curiousness of these giants. It's jagged smile got bigger, and spread more across their face. Alex and I watched in... amazement. After not long this creature lost interest in my bike, it walked off and seemed happier in a way.

Alex and I went and retrieved my bike, I put him in the basket and got on, putting my foot on the petal. As I was about to petal off, a loud screech sounded near us. "Shit" I thought. The same creature had turned around and saw us, and it called for others. It only took a few seconds for three others to come up the hill that was near us. Alex's hair was on end and he was hissing and snarling at these creatures like he could do something to them. I put both feet on the petals of my bike and got the bell out of there. Granted it wasn't an easy escape, I had been biking away from them for over two miles. But we were safe for now nonetheless.
