Third Eye Blind Sarah's Story Part 3

The Summer Before

It's my favorite time of the year. Summer time! Which means no school! Actually school this year wasn't that bad. Mr Dietrich and Lauren made it a great year. Mr Dietrich made biology class fun. Everyday was something new and made learning very interesting. Lauren, she's my best friend so everyday with her was always awesome! This summer Lauren and I planned on both getting a job at the local amusement park. I wanted my own money so I didn't always have to ask my parents for money. I applied but Lauren couldn't. She got stuck with babysitting her little brother all summer while her parents worked. After a few weeks I finally heard back and I got the job! I was so excited. When I found out I called Lauren right away. She was excited for me but she was also upset because we wouldn't get to see each other as much. I was upset about that too, but now we could go out and do things besides always hang out at my house. The job I got was a photographer. When I was young my dad and I would always take pictures together so I had some experience and they liked that. The first few days were a little difficult but I picked up what I had to do quickly. The one day I was walking around by the pool and I looked over and I saw Lance! You remember the guy I wanted to be my project partner. Well he's now my co-worker. Later that day I went on break and Lance came in the break room a few minutes after me. He saw me then worked his way over to me. It was like he was walking in slow motion. When he approached he asked to sit down. I lit up like a pumpkin on Halloween. I said yes of course. Ever since that day Lance and I would sit together at lunch. Then randomly one day I told him I had a crush on him. He just stared at me. I was so embarrassed. I tried to stand up but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back down. He smiled then he came on for a kiss. My heart was racing so fast! I didn't know what to do. I thought about this moment all year. I just closed my eyes and puckered my lips. The moment his lips touched mine it was like fireworks went off. I have never felt that way before. After the kiss ended I stood up and said thank you and walked away. I was so shocked by what just happened. I called Lauren and was telling her what had just happened and she was so excited for me because she knew I had a crush on him. She told me to play it cool and let him come up to you and ask you out. The next day Lance and I met up in the break room and as per usual he sat next to me. I didn't want to be awkward but I didn't know what else to say. So I said I liked that a lot yesterday. I hope we can do it again. He looked at me and giggled and said you're funny. Of course I like you. Oh my goodness my heart skipped a beat when he said that. I now had a boyfriend. I never had one of them before. I was as happy as I could have ever been before! I had my best friend Lauren and my boyfriend Lance! Life couldn't get much better than it is right now!
