Ringing the bell, I stood back impatiently, holding a heart-shaped box of chocolates and a bouquet of flowers up to my nose. A tall, lean man with blonde hair and hazel eyes opened the door, leaning against the frame. All the color drained from my face. He was only wearing boxers, with tinted cheeks and ruffled hair. The man stared at me expectantly. "Th- uh, Gi-uh, th-this must b-be the wrong apartment number." I stuttered. He nodded, still watching me. I ran my fingers through my hair and turned around as he shut the door. " Who was it?" I heard Ginny yell, her muffled yet melodic voice ringing through the door as I started to walk away. The same voice that had apologized time and time again. The same voice I'd declined but I was ready to take her back. It was too late now, she clearly moved on already.
Strolling through the streets, I dumped the bouquet in a trash can and sat down on a bench, opening the box of chocolates and stuffing them in my face. Passerbys looked at me with pity, seemingly knowing what happened. I hate Valentines Day. I really do hate it.
An old lady in a bright, colorful dress pushing a shopping cart full of flowers stopped by my side. She pulled out a single lilac and handed it to me, clasping her hands around mine and pushing it up to my chest. " It means purity and good of heart my dear child." she smiled at me and continued on her merry way, waving at strangers and humming happily to herself. I clutched the flower closely to heart and grinned, inhaling the scent.
I sighed and pushed myself off the bench, throwing the empty box in the garbage near the roses. More sad looks from people I've never seen before. Would I do the same thing to someone else. At least they didn't know who I was . My hair has grown long enough to cover up my scar completely. I didn't need glasses anymore too at least most of the time. I wear contacts now and my eyes shifted to a lighter green. If people realized it was I,'Harry Potter', it'd most likely be all over the news the next day.
I soaked back to my apartment, trying to think of someone to call that would give me advice. Hermione the first name that came to mind, but she was not an option. Ron wasn't either. They both sided with Ginny, Ron since she was his younger sister and ' it was a one time thing, I might've even done it myself' and Hermione, despite what he said, because Ron was her husband and ' everyone makes mistakes, some bigger than others.' The only other person that came to mind was Luna so I dialed her number and waited for her to pick up.
" Hello Harry." She called, her soft hum ringing through the phone, instantly calming me down.
"Hey Luna"
"What's wrong?"
"Everything" I grumbled, spilling out all that had happened this morning.
"Oh Harry, I'm so sorry." Tears were slipping down my face as I thought about what that guy could've been doing.
"Do you want me to cone over?"
"No, no. It's okay. I just-" I paused, trying to look for the right words. " I just needed someone to talk to."
She hummed in response " Well, I hope you feel better."
"Yeah, thanks Luna. Love you."
" Love you too."I hung up the phone and placed it down, already shaking with tears again, how's it going to survive? Grabbing a vase from the top of the fridge, I filled it with water and dropped the flower I'd been holding tightly. I was going to take care of that thing and make sure it never died. I smelled the Lilac once more before grabbing a big fat tub of ice cream and a large spoon and headed to my room. This week's going to be horrid.
