"Now how are we going to get out?" H asks. More appropriately, what's on the other side of the door that closed it?
"Um, okay... Just follow closely. We need to see if it's locked before we freak out," I say, getting up and pulling her to her feet. She nods.
We carefully maneuver our way to the door. I try to turn the handle but it doesn't move. I try tapping the door with my foot, and then kick it.
It still doesn't open.
"Oh no... just... crap," I say. H glares at me. "Sorry, it's just... Now there's no way out," I say. No way to go anywhere except through the mirrors, but all of them have something that wants us dead on the other side.
"We could try the mirror," H suggests. "The one that showed us our reflections."
"I guess that's our best bet..." I say, not entirely sure, but it's the only possible way out. We have to take our chances.
We go back to the mirror and once again see our reflections. I reach out and place my fingertips against the mirror's surface. It ripples like water, distorting our reflections.
"It's like water..." says H, mimicking my thoughts. I nod and press my hand against it with a little more force. It sinks in, making my hand disappear from sight. I bring it back out.
"Well, now we know we can go through," I say.
"Yeah," she says. I guess it's now or never. I take a deep breath and take her hand.
"We'll step in on three," I say. She nods. "One, two, three!"
We both step forward slowly and emerge in what seems to be a different dimension. I can feel a slight wind and there's grass and closed flowers all around.
"That's... odd..." I say and look around. I expected the sky to be blue, but it's black. The sun is red and the grass is blue.
"Everything's odd in this place," says H. "Let's just go."
"Yeah," I say. This place unnerves me more than the rest. It's the calm. It's making me nervous.
We start walking. The flowers seem to be placed at random intervals, and the grass in thicker in some places. Darker, too.
We walk for about ten minutes but nothing seems to change. Nothing's attacking us for once but that just makes me even more nervous. A large gust of wind blows and I smell the distinct smell of paint. We pass a pool of sparkling, deep blue water.
We come to the start of a forest and stop. It smells of paint and pine. The trees are purple and further in, it's dark.
"Great, give us anything and it has to be forest," I say.
