The ooze, the villain, and the Kraang

There was hardly anything to do in the Kraang facility Cassianova lived in. Of course, her pet void, Darling, was always at her side, ready to cheer her up and destroy the lesser life forms the Kraang made. The only reason Cassianova was able to have a pet was because of her undivided loyalty to the Kraang. They had created her with the DNA of the Shredder from a distant universe and perfected her in their image.

Today was dull, like every other day in this timeless void. She brushed her curly hair (always a hassle), sighing as Darling lay in her lap. Cassianova loved serving the Kraang, but she had been craving something more lately. The girl was craving a taste of adventure, whether it be entirely fantastical as this prison dimension X, or in a world that was just as boring as her life.

Out of nowhere, the door to her room swung open, revealing one of the lesser kraang captured from another universe. The mech suit it inhabited was sleek and could easily be remade. This one did not have a human-esqe "skin" suit pulled over, so it was easy to see the purple glow in the translucent blue metal.

"The ones known as the 'superior Kraang' would like to see the one called 'Cassi' in the place that kraang conducts business that kraang wishes to keep confidential." You can really see how stupidly long their sentences are just to not make sense unless you're a complete dumbass.

"Alright, tell the Kraang I'm coming," Cassianova said, putting Darling aside. The void whined, if you can even call it that, its horrific slimy tendrils squirming as it tried to get a firm grip on its owner's arm. "Sorry Darling, you're going to have to wait."

It let go with a squeak of defeat, just like me when mom catches me chugging orange juice like there's no tomorrow.

Cassianova got up, following the lesser kraang to the "throne room" where Leader Kraang, Sister Kraang, and Brother Kraang stood. They weren't in their mech suits, which was off-putting to Cassianova who had only ever seen the Kraang in them.

"Cassianova, we recognize your undivided loyalty to us, the Kraang. We have also sensed restlessness within you; the desire to do more for your superiors." Cassi was enamored with the regal sound of Leader Kraang's voice. It washed over her like a lullaby, putting her at ease, and yet bringing her to attention. His voice held importance with his confidence of being in such a high position, even above his Sister and Brother Kraang. She had adopted a similar tone when talking to those below her, but with the Kraang she always took upon a smaller, quieter voice.

"We have decided to let you take on a very special assignment. You see, we need a very...specific material, but we do not have any of the necessary components to recreate it here in Prison Dimension X. Your task will be acquiring the substance from another universe." Brother Kraang had a different voice. It wasn't exactly deeper than Leader Kraang's, it was just dull, and uninterested. Even still he was clearly intelligent, despite being the smallest and weakest Kraang.

"When does my assignment start, my Kraang?" Cassi asked, eager to finally go on an adventure. "And what does the substance look like? What is it called?"

Leader Kraang chuckled at the girl's eagerness. She was the most perfect specimen they had created. "The substance is most commonly known as mutagen. Mutagen, in its raw form, is a green ooze that creates monsters who's appearance matches their insides and their skills. We believe we can perfect our fleshy parasites with enough research into the different mutagens across universes, as the mutagen can apparently mutate multiple times."

"And that will help you conquer inferior worlds and universes, and allow you to remake all in the image of Kraang?" Cassianova said with excitement and adoration for the Kraang and their plans. That's a lot of ands. I'm so good at writing, *sarcastic smiley face*.

"Correct. You will go to a universe where lesser kraang are plenty. It will not be anything like this Prison Dimension X, but you have proven your skill in combat and camouflage."

Sister Kraang chose this moment to chime in. "However, we understand that fighting by yourself will consume your time and energy, and as such we want to make sure you can easily get where you need, when you need, in this new universe you are not oriented to."

A fleshy tendril laced with moving eyes and pulsating veins emerged from the ground, holding some strange purple substance in a fancy glass canister. After the Kraang looked at her and then the object in the tendril's grip, Cassianova took it with a bit of uncertainty. "Do I...drink this?"

"Yes. You may feel pain for a minute or two, but I assure you, it will be worth it in the end. After all, you would do anything to please your Kraang, correct?" Leader Kraang spoke in a softer voice; to Cassi it was liquid nectar, to anyone with sense it was poison.

As the last drop reached her mouth, Cassianova felt a horrible pain seize her body. She dropped to her knees, crying out as she struggled to breathe. It was as though a monstrous beast had torn her open and squeezed as many of her organs as it could. The tailbone grew longer, adding smaller pieces to simulate a tail, with flesh and then skin following soon after. Pale fur sprouted up everywhere, as fingers and nails turned into a humanoid paw with sharp silver claws. Her nose and mouth grew into a snout with sharp canines in a jagged row, able to smell a lot more. Her ears melded into her head, seeming to reform near the top of her scalp, forming pointed ears that were more sensitive to sound.

The Kraang looked at her with a sickening form of sadistic glee masked as curiosity and surprise. "A tundra fox? Fitting." Sister Kraang smirked. Cassi was too busy getting over the initial shock to see.

"W-what? What happened to me? What's going on?" The girl was on the verge of tears...but the Kraang loved her. She was their perfect specimen, created in their image, designed to conquer any inferior lifeforms the Kraang had no use for. There was no reason the Kraang had to torment her, so why did she feel betrayed?

"Concentrate on me, Cassianova. We had empyrean mixed with a few other things, and we figured it would help. Everyone it was tested on before you were deformed, but you turned out perfect, per usual." Those words...Cassi felt grateful, but the seed of doubt in her mind made her wonder if what Leader Kraang said was true.

"Cassi, try to envision yourself as a different being entirely. Perhaps the lifeform that extended from you?" Brother Kraang said. At least he was smart about keeping up the mask of abuse. He was disgusted in his siblings for allowing their facade to slip.

Cassianova tried as Brother Kraang said, but shook her head after a minute. "Was I supposed to have a gift from this mutation?" Her fears were starting to bubble into reality. If she couldn't be perfect this one time, who knew how much it would continue?

"It was our hope, but do not fret. It is possible it will come within the next twenty-four hours." Brother Kraang reassured. Leader Kraang stepped forward, his expression remodeled into an apathetic face.

"Cassianova, are you prepared for your mission?" His voice echoed throughout the room, making him seem bigger than before. The newly mutated fox drew herself back into a professional stance, bowing at a rough 50-degree angle. "Yes, my Kraang," Cassi's voice wavered, but still as quiet as ever.

Sister Kraang ripped open a portal with a new fancy metallic contraption Brother Kraang created and perfected months ago. Cassianova stepped through, and immediately gasped in awe. It was noisy, it was vast, and it was full of various light sources, some constant and some not.

"Where...what...is this place?" A smile grew on Cassi's face as she stared out at the massive cityscape. Leader Kraang chuckled.

"Welcome to New York."
