Chapter One: The Accident

It happened in the arena.
When Shredder had drained the life force from Draxum to come back.

It's been resurrected and it's stronger than they expected. It saw Leo and immediately charged at them for an attack, everyone had gotten a short distance away as Shredder got closer. Everyone except Leo. They had froze in fear when they noticed it was focused on them and they panicked

They all froze.

Shredder had got Leo. It slashed his arm as he attempted to fight back, he was struggling as his family couldn't do anything. They felt as if they weren't gonna make it out alive from this.
Just before they thought it couldn't get any worse, Shredder had body slammed Leo into the ground hard. They felt, and heard, their shell crack, and they were immediately flooded with even more pain than before. It didn't help that he lost his strength in his limbs, and that it had gotten his whole right side, and clawed up a lot of his left.

By the time the others could get themselves to move again, Shredder vanished. It disappeared in a flash of purple lightning or something of the sorts.

Leo hurt all over, he couldn't speak, his head felt like tv static, his lungs hurt, and his eyes were getting heavy. They were starting to pass out. It felt like they were dying.

Before they plunged into unconsciousness, they heard Donnie -or someone else, but it sounded like him- trying to tell them to keep their eyes open and to try and stay awake. Leo couldn't, he just couldn't do what he was asked to do, they were just to
tired.

"Damn it!" Donnie had yelled in a panic, and a bit of frustration .
"Someone use Leo's portal sword to get him and I back to the lair. I need to make sure his condition doesn't worsen." Every word that came out of his mouth was rushed and slurred together, but it was apparent what he was telling them to do and someone managed to get a portal opened to the med-bay.
"You guys make sure Shredder doesn't come back, I can take care of him and get him back" Donnie shouted as he quickly stepped through with Leo.

As soon as Donnie got the two of them through the portal, that somehow actually led to the medbay, they sat Leo onto the bed on his left side, since it had the least damage, and his other side couldn't take any more.

Donnie had rushed to find a cloth and something else he could use to tie off the part of Leo's arm that was bleeding profusely so he could get to work on examining the wounds on him, and to make sure the damage on the shell wasn't too severe. However, he was sure Leo was gonna have to lose his right arm. Shredder had dug his claws about four inches below Leo's shoulder and, well, shredded it. The wound was almost down to the fucking bone. Just thinking about how much pain he was in made Donnie feel like he was going to pass out right there with his older brothers life on the line.

Fuck Donnie was scared. They didn't know if their brother would make it through the night. Leo's shell was cracked in multiple places, he had four broken ribs, and he's now got one arm, and a very fucked up leg. The other injuries he sustained were also prone to infection if the bandages didn't get changed at least a few times each day, along with needing to be disinfected at least once a day. Oh and the possibility of Leo's shell rotting was high as shell with bandages and gauze on it. But it's better than the cracked bits getting infected. And the chance of them dying was much lower than it had been after everything was taken care of, and Leo having an IV hooked up to him, it had painkillers and other necessary liquids in it.

After Donnie had finished hooking Leo up to the necessary equipment, he had tried calling the others to make sure everything was alright but they were busy with Shredder, and Splinter went to talk to Big Mama along with Raph so they could find a way to stop it whenever it reappeared.

What if they couldn't get rid of Shredder? What would happen? Donnie got nauseous thinking of what would happen after seeing what happened to his brother, so he just stopped thinking about it and focused on monitoring Leo's vitals, which were doing alright at the moment, but could change at any given time.

Shell, he was exhausted after everything, he just wanted to take a nap, but he couldn't take a nap. Donnie didn't know what would happen if he fell asleep, so he had to wait until the others got back so they could just take turns making sure Leo's condition doesn't worsen and bring him closer to dying then before. He'd have Shelldon watch him so he could take a short nap but he probably wouldn't know what to do if Leon got worse out of nowhere.

As he sat in the chair next to Leo's still body, Donnie felt his eyelids get heavy. And before he knew it, he had fallen asleep.
