S1 E7 Home Security

It was another day at the Baxter household. Mike came into the living room with his empty coffee mug. He greeted Vanessa, and Eve.

Mike:
Morning.

Eve:
Morning.

Vanessa.
Hey.

She said as she was rooting around in her purse.

Mike:
You get the paper?

Vanessa:
No.

He opened the front door and a set of keys was hanging from the deadbolt lock as he was getting the paper.

Mike:
Vanessa? Again?

Vanessa:
How do you know they're mine?

She questioned.

Mike:
'Cause your key chain says "Geologists rock" and "Don't take me for Granite."

She took the keys from his hands, and walked into the kitchen with Mike in tow. She then greeted Her twin kids and Rachel who were in the kitchen.

Kristin:
Hey. Good morning.

Vanessa:
Hey.

Jake:
Morning.

Rachel:
Morning.

Kristin was getting milk from the fridge, and Jake, and Rachel were eating breakfast at the table.

Kristin:
Did you hear there was a break-in in the neighborhood last night?

Mike:
A break-in? You mean one of the neighbors was rude enough not to leave their keys in the front door?

He said as he glances at Vanessa, who was glaring at him.

Jake:
How many times is that now?

Vanessa smacked him in the shoulder as he and Rachel giggled.

Kristin:
It was the Bergen's house.

Mike:
The Bergens?

Kristin:
Mm-hmm.

Mike:
That's not right.

Vanessa:
Oh, I know. They're such nice people. No, I mean we've got better stuff.

She glared at him again.

Mike:
Have you ever looked--have you ever looked in their house? The TV's from the '70s. Just look in their window sometime. Just pretend like you're jogging.

He said as he was pretending to jog.

Vanessa:
You know, I think we need some sort of security system.

Rachel:
And here I thought we did.

Vanessa:
What do you mean?

Rachel:
Well Jake, and I have guns. Mike has guns in his den. Not to mention Jake and I have guns in the den.

Vanessa rolled her eyes at her.

Rachel:
But I thought that N.R.A sticker in the front window was warning enough.

Mike smiled at his favorite daughter-in-law.

Vanessa:
As impressed as I am with all your various guns, I still think we need to
organize a neighborhood watch.

Jake:
Nope, I'm out.

Rachel:
Seconded.

Vanessa:
How can you say that? Don't you want to have a safe neighborhood?
