It was a tulkun crying for help, Lo'ak looked around making sure no one would see him. He called his ilu and rushed towards the sound. But Ātaahua could hear it too, she saw Lo'ak jump off the pathway into the water. She knew he wouldn't survive past the reef, so Ātaahua jumped in the water, called to Tui and followed Lo'ak.
Lo'ak soon came to a halt, seeing a small tulkun was hurt. Lo'ak slowly approached the tulkun, he wasn't sure if it was safe or a dumb idea but he did it anyways. Ātaahua soon caught up but stayed hidden behind some seaweed, but she couldn't see much.
"Hey there, it's ok." Lo'ak said communicating through hand signals.
Lo'ak looked around the tulkun's body and discovered a harpoon shoot through the tulkuns fin.
"It's going to be alright." Lo'ak signalled "I am going to take it out."
Lo'ak swam back to the fin, he tried pulling it out but it wouldn't move, he swam under the fin and turned the harpoon around a bit, he went back up to the top and lifted the harpoon out of the fin.
"That should be better." He said patting the tulkun on the side.
The tulkun could finally swim freely without pain. The tulkun did some backflips, he circled around Lo'ak and thanked him for what he had done.
"Lo'ak!" Ātaahua called out.
Lo'ak turned around and saw Ātaahua swim out from the seaweed, "Ātaahua, what are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here? What are you doing here, its not safe past the reef." Ātaahua explained.
"I heard a call from the water." Lo'ak said
"I heard it too, but it's dangerous out here. We need to go back." Ātaahua said.
"But Ātaahua, I've made a friend." Lo'ak says taking Ātaahua's hand to show the tulkun.
Lo'ak showed Ātaahua the tulkun's scarring and hurt fin, he told her what had happened to the fin. Ātaahua looked right in the eye of the tulkun.
"I am so sorry this happened to you." Ātaahua signalled. "What is your name."
The whale communicated back saying that his name was "Rawiri".
"It is nice too meet you, Rawiri." Ātaahua said reaching out to pat his head.
It had been a while, Ātaahua and Lo'ak were both playing with Rawiri. They soon sat down on Rawiri's fin and talked for a bit.
"You know, its very uncommon for a Na'vi to connect to a tulkun that easy. He must really like you." Ātaahua said looking out at the sunset.
"I think it's because Rawiri can trust me. How I trust you." Lo'ak said turning his head too Ātaahua.
There was a silent moment between the two, they had done this a couple of times now. They looked at each other and neither of them would turn their heads away, not long after they would soon be interrupted by something. Not this time.
Lo'ak knew how he felt about Ātaahua and hoped she felt the same. She did, she liked Lo'ak a lot. Over these past couple of weeks, Ātaahua has never connected like this with anyone else before.
The two looked at each other, straight in the eyes. They read each other and how they felt, Lo'ak slowly leaned in and Ātaahua followed. They came close together and kissed each other, they finally expressed the way they felt. But that moment ended very quickly when a big explosion came from the village.
