Summary: De Sardet settles in and reveals her name to the crew. She and Vasco have a night alone together.
---
De Sardet has been busy the last few days. She's been spending most of her days signing paperwork in her cabin. When she's not busying herself with legate work, she is seen making small talk with the crew and occasionally Vasco himself. She could also be seen helping the crew with some minor work around the ship, like cleaning up the dishes together with the cook and scrubbing the deck to his disbelief. She only laughed him off saying, "I just want to help out, my uncle isn't here to scold me so I might as well make myself useful around here." When Vasco approached her about it. He initially thought it was a way of the Congregation spying on the Nauts, to know their ways. But days have gone by and she seems not to have any ill intentions. She genuinely wants to help the crew and wants to make friends with them. Vasco may not seem like it but he sure does appreciate what she does around on the ship. Of course, she can't help with sailing, it's not like he would actually let her. But he likes the company and so does his crew. After all, nobles aren't well-liked by the Nauts (even though the only reason they get to travel by sea is because of the Nauts) and so the crew were also surprised seeing her work around them.
A week into the voyage and her companions still haven't been feeling well at sea. She noticed that she in particular hasn't been feeling nauseous at all and is grateful for it. But she still pities them, Kurt seems not too bothered by it but Constantin has mostly been bedridden trying to sleep it off she assumes. She's heading to the galley to ask the cook if they have any ginger. She's read in Bridge Alliance books that eating or drinking anything ginger is a good way to help with nausea so she decides to prepare some ginger tea for her companions and anyone else who wants to try it.
The cook sees her and smiles at her. "De Sardet! Do you need something?"
"Well, I've been wondering if you have any ginger in the galley?"
"We do, here." He says while giving it to her.
"Do you mind if I prepare something quick? I won't be long, I promise."
He laughs, "you don't need to ask me. You have been proven useful so feel free to use the galley anytime you like."
She nods and chuckles, "thank you, Alex."
She takes a cutting board and slices the ginger in thin slices and distributes them among several mugs. She adds a little sugar to all of them to not make them too bitter and boils some water. Alex seems intrigued at what she's doing so she quickly explains. "I'm making ginger tea, my friends have been feeling nauseous the whole week. I thought some ginger tea might help them, the crew can also have some if they would like to try it."
"Oh that's nice of you, I will let them know. Don't tell anyone but we Nauts also get seasick, we just don't show it."
She looks surprised at him, "really? I haven't noticed at all. You all might as well work in theatrics." He chuckles, "yep, we enjoy what we do though so we don't mind it that much. I guess you could say we have grown used to it."
"Well, now you know what to prepare if any of you want to get rid of the nauseating feeling." By now the water has finished boiling so she pours the water into the mugs and gives them all a quick stir. She hands one to Alex, "here try it. I have to warn you, it is bitter. If it's too bitter just add some more sugar." He takes the mug and tries it. He doesn't seem to have a reaction, "it's not bad. Not something I would like to drink every morning. But I do see the crew liking this." She chuckles, "I know, I prefer to have other types of teas in the morning as well. They do say that drinking this every day has its benefits."
Vasco walks in and greets them and looks for something in the cabinet. After rummaging around for a minute he finally looks at the counter. He points to one, "that's my mug." Alex looks at the mug he pointed at and almost spits out his tea and quickly swallows his mouthful and whispers to her, "the Captain has his own mug, says it was a gift. Never let anyone else use it."
