ERIKA POV:
The bed is warm and soft beneath me. The feeling of never wanting to leave washes over me but another day at work is announced at the sound of my alarm blaring in my ears.
I roll over towards my alarm and stretch out an arm to turn it off. For a few moments after turning it off I just lay there wondering what caused my past self to want to become a lawyer/attorney in the first place.
The warm Blanket moves off me as I slide out of bed. I look over to the other side of the bed where my dog, Ruby, lies.
Ruby is the light in my life, despite having a thin dark coat- she was a Doberman dog. She may look scary, and she was at times. But to me, she's the sweetest thing and I love her.
I leave my room and enter the bathroom. My dirty blonde hair was a mess from tossing and turning night long.
I brush my teeth and wash my face. When I bring my face up my reflection's dark eyes meet in the reflection.
Towel soft to the touch, I bring it up and dry my face. I leave the bathroom and grab some clothes off the clothing rack.
I wear black suit pants, with a white blouse and a matching backing suit jacket to go with it.
Heading into the kitchen, I turn on some toast while I get the last of my things together.
Ruby comes down with me, I make sure she has enough water and put her outside. I grab my toast, putting on some butter.
I make sure I have everything; my keys, wallet, and phone. I walk out of the house, making sure to lock the door and then I get into my car.
I turn on the ignition and reverse out of the driveway. My home wasn't as big as some people here in Spain, just big enough for me and Ruby to live comfortably.
Driving to the law firm was a hassle. The road was jam-packed with people trying to get to work on time. Daydreaming, I don't realise a red light has come on, I hear the honk of a car and I stop abruptly. At that moment, I feel something hit the back of my car.
I pull over to asses the damage the car that hit the back pulled up behind me. "What the hell?!?" they shout. I turn to look at the person that hit my car and I'm met with a stunningly handsome, yet pissed face.
Tan skin with dark curly hair, he was cleanly dressed making it obvious that he was of a higher class. Obviously, have you seen the car yet and the damage you did to it? His eyes were a mix a green and brown, hazel, and he stood at what I'd guess to be 6'4.
He stops for a moment, before going back to yelling "you hit my car!"
While I admit I was daydreaming, and it was partly my fault. Him not taking some of the blame annoyed me "it's also your fault, your the one that was tailgating me" I say as calmly as possible but in a situation like this it was extremely hard.
He doesn't answer and instead pulls out a business card of some kind. "Listen Angel, here's my business card. Give me a call and I can show you how to really drive or rather ride" he says with a cocky look.
I look at him with disbelief, "No!" My calmness falls and I shout "Who the fuck do you think you are?"
His cocky smile fades and his eye grow darker, he scoffs "fine" he walks over to my car and puts his business card in under the windscreen wipers "call the number and pay for the damage"
He walks back to his own car and gets in, not saying another word before driving off.
I go over to my car and grab the business card, "Ramirez Empire" I whisper to myself. I stare at the name, it sounded familiar but I couldn't place it. I flip the card over, revealing a number to call.
I roll my eyes, remembering the offer he first made. I get back into the car and start it up, but the whole drive to work I couldn't stop thinking of the guy I just met.
---------
Arriving at the Law firm, I check in and make my presents known. I was late a whole 10 minutes due to the incident, it doesn't matter anyway I normally stay back hours after work anyway.
I walk up the fancy stairs, it feels like you're in a palace- this place is one of the best law firms in Spain so what do you expect?
I make it to my office, the walls were a shade of dark blue and the large window covered an entire wall for some unnecessary reason. I had a floor lamp on the left of my desk and two chairs in front of it with my office chair behind it. There was a bookshelf with books of law I only read when I was in school and next to the shelf was a filing cabinet.
When I sit in the seat, I start up my computer and begin going through emails.
Half an hour passes and I get a knock at my door. "Come in" my voice chimes. The door pushes open and Mr Emrio's assistant walks in, "Mr Emrio wants to speak with you"
I rise from my seat and make my way to Mr Emrio's office with his assistant.
His assistant opened the door for me and I walk in, he was sitting in the big office chair behind the desk. There was another person sitting in front of the desk, we lock eyes when he turns. And that familiar face from this morning greets me.
He looks just as confused as I am, Mr Emrio gestures to the available seat. I walk over, eyes still locked with the man from this morning. We only broke eye contact when I sat.
Confusion took hold of both of us but not a word left our mouths. We both look forward to Mr Emrio and waited for an explanation.
