Chapter Six:

Torment

Volterra- 800 A.D

Hurt. Tormented. Tortured by those whom she has killed and those who have made her suffer. She had spent what seemed like hours in the shower, scrubbing and scrapping her body from any evidence of what had happened to her, something no one other than her brother knew. She couldn't cry, she couldn't die and leave her twin alone so she did what only seemed reasonable, she scrubbed his hands away from her body and scrapped his kisses away. But her mind wasn't like her body, she couldn't erase what had happened to her, and she couldn't clean her mind with water and soap hoping to start over. As she sat on the bathroom floor her knees up to her chest, and her eyes focused on nothing in particular.

She somehow hoped she had died, her mind corrupted by memories she wish she could forget. And scars she could not erase. Broken away from her thoughts by a knock on the door, Jane stood up before grabbing her crimson silk robe and tying it around her body. "Who is it?" she whispered. "Artemis, gorgeous" Artemis said smiling at the sound of her voice. "What is it you want, Artemis?" she questioned before opening the door, her cold facade returning, revealing what seem the most magnificent sight. She was breathtaking if only Artemis need to breathe. "You seem to have passed the last three hours in the bathroom, your brother got concerned" Artemis' eyes roamed around the room, eyebrows scrunched at the multiple shampoo bottles and soap scattered around. "Is everything okay?" he asked looking into her eyes, the unmistakable dread, and sadness in them.

"Why didn't my brother come himself?"

Artemis laughed, completely aware that she had ignored his question, not that he expected any less. He leaned against the door frame his once tense shoulder loosening slightly. "Aro seems to occupy his time, he wishes for Demetri, one of our few guards, to train him," he said causing Jane to nod her head. She rolled her eyes at the smugness on his face before pushing him aside and walking away from him. Artemis let his eyes roam the bathroom one more time before closing the door and turning to face Jane, who had gotten dressed in the span of a few seconds. "You're a sight for sore eyes, darling," he said, roaming his eyes around her body, the cloak given by the Volturi covering her perfect body, his mind scattering noticing red staps from her bra, peeking out. "Fuck" he mumbled his pants suddenly tightening, luckily covered by his own Volturi cloak.

Jane rolled her eyes before a figure distracted her from the scene of Artemis, roaming his eyes on her body. She looked at the figure, a man, the man she just had nightmares about standing before her, grinning at her so innocently as if he hadn't done anything to her. He stood there so proud of himself blood covering his pant from violating her virginity and his face covered with scratch marks done by her. Jane shook her head not wanting to believe he was there, trying to shake the hallucination away. But it didn't disappear, he didn't disappear. In fact, he walked closer to her standing where Artemis once stood, his eyes roaming her body as Artemis had. Jane blinked rapidly trying to comprehend how he was here, in front of her, walking towards her. Jane took a step backward every time he got closer. "Leave me alone"  she whispered covering her ears, the sound of his grunts and moans filling her mind.

Artemis furrowed his eyebrows his thoughts consumed by what he wanted to do to her, he had failed to notice her growing panic attack, her trembling hands, and her filled venom eyes. "Jane, sweetheart," he said stepping closer to her. "Leave me alone, leave me alone..." she chanted hoping that with one of the times she had said those words, the man would listen. Artemis walked closer backing her into the wall, her hands covering her ears as she slide down the wall her knees tugged against her chest. He looked at Jane his undead heart-breaking at the sight of her. He kneeled in front of her his hand reaching out to her, "Darling".

Jane looked up, at Artemis. Their eyes connect, and as suddenly as the man appeared, he disappeared his once haunting eyes replaced with Artemis. Jane whimpered softly before wrapping her arms around Artemis.

"It's okay, it's okay, I'm here, Jane"

Jane shook her head before pulling away, her eyes finding his once again, "Thank you".
