It's Saturday, so Natalie and the boys decide to have a movie night. They're all going to meet downstairs and can watch it on the bigger tv. Louis and Natalie will be the last to arrive since they are waiting for their tea water to boil.
They stand in silence, occupying themselves on their phones. When they get downstairs, they both groan seeing the other boys take up the whole L shaped couch leaving them to sit together on the small love seat.
The boys have simultaneously subtly and not so subtly been trying to get the two of them to spend more time together. It's unclear whether they are trying to get them together together or if they are just tired of hearing their fighting and want them to get along.
While she's stood there thinking, Louis runs toward the couch and jumps on it, taking up the entire thing. She scowls at him, and he raises his eyebrows, challenging her. She just rolls her eyes and sits on the ground in front of Harry.
"Come on guys, get along. Louis move and let her sit." Liam says, always trying to keep the peace.
"You guys could move and make room for her." Louis says back.
"I'll be fine here." She says sitting down on the floor in front of the larger couch.
"No come on, we'll make room." Niall says.
"No, really, I'm fine here." She says.
The other boys try to argue but she shushes them since the movie is starting.
Niall takes his pillow and gives it to her so she can at least be a little more comfortable. The other boys just hope Louis will take pity on her and let her sit with him, but it's hard to say whether he will or not. They're going to wait it out a little longer and see what happens. If Louis doesn't let her sit with him, they'll make room.
They unfortunately for her get too engrossed in the movie to realize she is very uncomfortable on the floor. She keeps moving and arching her back as it starts to hurt and her bum goes numb. Louis, who is basically right next to her but on the nice, comfortable couch watches her from the corner of his eye the whole time.
As much as he doesn't want her to sit next to him, he isn't really that cruel. Yes, she could ask the other boys to move, but he knows her well enough that she won't to want to bother anyone. She would just sit there and be uncomfortable unless he moves.
He takes his pillow from behind his head and leans down to hit her in arm with it to get her attention.
"What the hell?" She whisper yells, trying not to interrupt the rest of the boys who seem to really be enjoying the movie.
"Just come sit up here and stop fidgeting," he says trying to act annoyed with her.
He sits up and moves down the couch, so he is on the half closer to the tv, leaving her the other half of it. She happily gets up with the pillow she had before and settles onto her half of the couch.
"Thank you," she whispers leaning close to his ear and sticking her hands on his back. He tries to act like it doesn't affect him as he suppresses a shiver.
"Whatever, but I'm not sharing my blanket." He says and keeps his back turned to her, she just smiles to herself. She leans her head on the back of the couch so she can see around him. He's still an ass, but she'll take it.
To her surprise, he does share the blanket with her when he goes to lean back on his hands and accidentally touches her cold foot.
"Jesus why are you always so cold," he huffs and starts to tuck the blanket around her feet before he realizes what he is doing. He stops and turns his attention back to the tv with his back to her again.
He keeps fidgeting around, trying to get comfortable until she rolls her eyes and puts her hands on his shoulders, trying to pull him back.
"Just lie back, it's not a big deal." She's leaning back against the arm rest of the couch with her knees up, if he lays back it will almost be like a recliner. She sticks her pillow between her legs and his back so it won't be uncomfortable.
He begrudgingly lays back, putting his legs to rest on the opposite armrest of the couch so half his legs are hanging over the edge. He shimmies in his spot until he gets comfortable, smiling happily to himself.
Not even 10 minutes later does she hear soft snore like breathing. She leans down to see his mouth hanging open as he sleeps. She rests her head against the side of the couch, getting comfortable herself.
"Is he asleep?" Zayn asks with humor in his voice.
She turns around to look back at him and unthinkingly puts her hand on Louis' head to keep herself stable as she twists backwards. She nods at Zayn, not wanting to be loud. He just smirks at her, and she turns back to the tv.
She realizes she has her hand on Louis' head and immediately retracts it. Louis stirs and moves his head around like he is looking for the missing touch. Her heart swells and she moves her hand back to tangle in his hair. She plays with it as they continue to watch the movie.
"I can't believe he fell asleep on you." Niall says.
"We should get a picture to tease him with." Zayn says with a smirk.
"Guys come on," she warns.
"Why not? He would do it to you." Harry says, still not understanding why she is so nice to him sometimes.
They have a fair point, but it has been a long and hard week.
"It's been a really long week, just leave him alone."
They huff and roll their eyes, not understanding her, but listening to her all the same.
"Are you playing with his hair?" Harry says. He's the closest to her, so if he whispers only she can hear him.
She blushes, "Yeah, it's really soft and nice," she says almost dreamily. "And it's quite nice being able to sit here without fighting, even though he is unconscious." She says flatly. She thinks a second, "He's not all that bad."
"I don't understand why you of all people would admit that, but no he's not." Harry replies back.
"Well, like I said he's unconscious, I'd never say it to his face."
Louis, who has woken up, hearing all their voices suppresses a smile. She never really compliments him, not that what she said is a compliment per say, but it's probably the closest they'll get. He can completely understand why she wouldn't compliment him often, but it's nice to hear regardless. He curls onto his side and falls back to sleep with a small smile on his face.
Natalie wakes up a little while later with the blanket all tucked around her and Louis gone from her legs, but what wakes her up is the hand behind her neck gently lifting her head up.
"Wha-" she starts, but Louis stops her.
She quickly realizes he is moving a pillow behind her neck so she's more comfortable. The relief is instant, she feels a lot better.
"Shh, this is just a dream, I'm not even here." He mumbles in a silly voice. She giggles and he moves his hand to brush her hair out of her face as she curls into herself. "Go back to sleep," he mutters as he sits on the ground, staying by her. He doesn't sneak away until he sees her heavy eyelids fall shut again.
He's not all that bad.
