A/N: Merry Christmas motherfuckers! Here's a Christmas Special for y'all because you are beautiful and deserve it.
Also it's Christmas eve here right now and i wrote this on my phone in the living room. My mom asked me "what are you writing?" And i just said "a book" lol. Little did she know that the true answer is: "a fanfiction about a non existent ghoul character because no one ever loves me in a romantic way and now i'm lonely pls send help."
You were beyond excited, it was almost Christmas. Well, almost? It was December 6th. But that didn't stop your excitement for the best day of the year.
Strangely enough, the church wasn't decorated at all. Maybe they only put the decorations up on Christmas eve? You had actually no idea how they celebrated Christmas here, you had only moved into the satanic church to become a sister of sin a couple of months ago.
"Hey Rain!" You said with an excited tone in your voice. Rain was sitting alone in the ghouls common room with a book. "Y/N! What are you doing here? You know you're not allowed in here, right? Only ghouls are."
He was a little panicked about the fact that you broke a rule. He always did that whenever you broke a rule, it was adorable. Rain was adorable. Every time he talked to you he made you blush. The way he laughs at your jokes made you feel butterflies in your stomach. Hell, everything he did made you feel some type of way. It was special. You just couldn't seem to get him out of your head.
You flipped your hair back. "Well, I guess I'm a little rebel then. You know me, always causing trouble." This made Rain chuckle. "Maybe we could cause some trouble together sometime?" He asked. "I'd love to. Anyways," you continued, "I'm here to ask you about something. I couldn't find anyone else around the church who I knew, and I didn't want to ask a stranger because I'm just socially awkward."
"I can relate to that." Rain said. "What do you want to ask me?"
"Where are the Christmas decorations?"
Rain was silent for a second. For some reason, he seemed to be very uncomfortable all of a sudden. "You... you can't... You can't just say the C-word." He managed to get out, very quietly, even though there was nobody else in the room.
"The C-word?" You asked. I always thought that the C-word meant cunt, not Christmas."
Rain immediately placed his index finger over his lips. "Shh! You can't say that! We don't do that here. The Clergy says that it's too Christian."
You felt the tears in your eyes. "No... no Christmas?" You couldn't believe what Rain had just told you.
Rain placed his book on the table in front of him, and got up to hug you. "It's okay, you're lucky that you asked me. Some people here would have been offended by your question."
The rest of the days in December felt cold. It was so weird to you that there were no fairy lights lighting up the place, there was no tree to decorate with beautiful ornaments, but worst of all was the fact that the people acted like they usually did. Like there was nothing special going to happen on the 25th. And they were right, nothing was going to happen.
The morning of the 25th you felt disappointed, sad even. There were no presents underneath the tree, because well, there was no tree.
After you got dressed, you went for a walk in the garden. The garden was gigantic and filled with all sorts of beautiful plants. But unfortunately, all plants had let go of their leaves already in fall. The only parts of the garden that were still green were the spruce and pine trees. Even the garden reminded you of Christmas.
Suddenly, 2 hands covered your eyes. "Don't be scared." You heard Rain say, he was behind you.
"Rain? What is this?"
He laughed. "Just trust me, okay?"
He lead me back inside the church, after a while I didn't know where we were.
"Aaand... tadaaa!" Rain released his hands from your eyes, revealing the room you were in.
You had never been in this room before, it wasn't that big, but it was cozy. There were Christmas decorations everywhere, in the middle of the room was a table with 2 chairs around it. The tablecloth was dark red, and on the table was a lit candle. It looked very romantic. There were also 2 plates and lots of warm baked bread on the table. In the corner of the room was a small Christmas tree, decorated with red ornaments that matched the tablecloth. There was even a little present underneath the tree, you wondered what it might be.
"This... this is gorgeous!"
Rain looked very handsome, he was wearing a black suit that looked really good on his body shape. It must have been custom made for him.
"Rain, this room isn't the only thing that's gorgeous. You're-"
"Oh, yeah, you're absolutely gorgeous as well." He said smoothly, while he pushed one of the chairs back so you could sit on it, like the gentleman he was.
"I told you that I was going to break the rules with you. I know that your old life outside of the church wasn't great, but Christmas was always your favorite day of the year. I just couldn't stand the thought of you not celebrating Christmas. But The Clergy would notice it if we don't show up to dinner today, so I thought, why not a Chris- Christm-" He struggled to say the C word. "Why not a brunch?" He sat down at the other end of the table.
"Oh Rain! I love it! Everything looks so beautiful!" You kept staring at the tree.
Rain sighed. "Sorry about the tree, I couldn't sneak a bigger one in here."
"No! I love it! Did you do all of this on your own?"
Rain shook his head. "No, I might have had a little help from Swiss and Dewdrop. They agreed with you that I should break the rules more often. And there's no more badass way to break the rules than to celebrate the C-word."
The brunch tasted absolutely delicious, Rain must have gotten everything from a real baker. It was so adorable that he put so much effort into celebrating something that was so important to you. The decorations, the suit, the food, everything was perfect.
"I know that you've been dying to know what the present underneath the tree is this whole time. Why don't you open it, it's for you." Rain said, after you both were done eating. You got up out of your chair and picked up the present that was underneath the tree. "I wonder what it might be." You said, while you sat back down again at the table.
You opened up the present. It was the most beautiful snow globe you had ever seen. It looked vintage, and it had a small Santa inside of it. You shook it so you and Rain could see the snow inside of it.
"It's so magical, thank you so much Rain."
Rain smiled. "You know, it was my grandmother's, she secretly loved the C-word as well, which is very unusual for ghouls. She gave it to me, in the hope that I would love the holiday just as much as she did, but I think we both knew that that was never going to happen. You should have it, because you love the C-word just as much as my grandma did."
This made you tear up. "I can't thank you enough Rain."
"No need to thank me, merry C-word, Y/N."
"Merry C-word, Rain."
