I woke up to Liam gently shaking me. Thursday. The next morning, we'd be on the road, heading to Toronto. I thanked Liam for waking me up and went to the kitchen to make breakfast. I scrambled some eggs and threw some bread in the toaster. I made Liam and myself a plate of eggs and toast. I took Liam's plate to his office, where he was logging on to Teamspeak, preparing to record. I gave Liam his plate and he thanked me. I went back to the living room and ate my breakfast.

After I finished eating, I went to my room and into my closet. In the back of my closet, I dug through piles of seemingly meaningless things. At the bottom of one of the piles was a medium-sized black duffle bag. I gathered a few outfits and put them in the duffle bag. I packed jeans, tee shirts, sweaters, and light jackets. It was May, but it was also Canada. Makeup, hairbrush, phone chargers, toothbrush, toothpaste, notepads, and books. Check.

I ran past Liam's room to see that he had started packing as well. Y'know, if stuffing clothes and toiletries into a duffel bag in an unorganized fashion counts as packing. I smiled to myself and continued down the hallway and into the kitchen. I searched the countertops for pens and pencils to pack and quickly found a few laying around. I grabbed them and ran back to my room.

I finished packing and went along with the rest of my day as usual. Liam and I went to the grocery store to pick up snacks and drinks for the road trip, and, as usual, we had an exchange with the store clerk regarding my situation. Liam had gone to use the bathroom, so I had to check out alone. I got out my wallet and took out my debit card to pay. When I brought my head back up, the clerk had a nasty, obnoxious look wiped across her face. She said something to me, and I replied with my catchprase.

"I'm sorry, I'm deaf." I said, making a gesture towards my ears. Why had I even apologized for being deaf? It's not like I brought it upon myself. If it was in my hands, I would choose to hear in an instant. I remember when I was young, being fitted for every hearing aid imaginable and them all being ineffective. My mom thought that perhaps I had partial hearing loss and that I was not completely deaf.

From Liam: Dinner's here.

The vibration from my phone against my leg scared me out my trance. I read Liam's text and went to the kitchen. I grabbed two slices of pizza and sat on the couch. I took a bite of pizza and texted Liam.

To Liam: TORONTO TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!

He read the text and laughed.

From Liam: you forgot a couple exclamation points !!!!!!!!!!!!

I shot Liam a glare but couldn't keep it together. I chuckled and took another bite of pizza.

Toronto tomorrow.

The supposed "beginning of the rest of my life".

I'm crossing my fingers that these guys aren't too obnoxious, rude, inappropriate, or -and this is the ultimate dealbreaker for me-

loud.

I'm sorry, I did just do *that* joke. I'll let myself out.

This took forever I'm sorry but next chapter is Toronto! It'll get exciting, don't worry.

This probably won't be a super long story because I already have an ending and I'm literALLY SO EXCITED.
