I completely forgot about my brother's death anniversary. I relaxed my grip on her. She immediately rises from my lap and walks over to where I saw her dangling herself.

Death is a tumultuous word. It brings back all the bitter memories I'm trying to bury within myself.

She returned after a few minutes, surprised that it had only lasted a second. I like how she tries to keep her emotions and expressions hidden around me.

You should return to your apartment before contracting Rhinovirus. She is dressed simply in a plain white salwar with no shwal. It's too cold in August in Mumbai,so I wrapped a Whisper-White Tusha Shawl With Floral Sozni Embroidery around my shoulders.

She didn't say anything and instead stared off into space.

Get lost, already! I should have erupted like a volcano at her attitude, but instead I chose to irritate her to see what she was capable of.

Oh, you're such a loner, aren't you? But don't expect me to leave this paradise. Her mouth parted and her eyes widened. She's surprised yet again. But for what reason?

When a strong wind blew, she hugged her petite form, the cold wind brushing against her sleeveless hands. A piece of paper appeared out of nowhere on her face.

That's one of my students' exam papers! If I let the wind carry them, I could say farewell to my professorship.

What the duck? She cursed and yanked the paper away from her face. Meanwhile, I tried to collect all of the test papers. I almost picked up the papers from the floor. Some are scattered on the artificial grass, while others are clinging to the plants.

She climbed on top of the gate and took the paper before I could reach for it.

I chuckled as I noticed her glued to the gate.

Don't laugh. I'm trying to help you.

When someone helps you, I believe you should know how to thank them. Not to laugh at them.

Let me thank that person. I took her glued form from the gate. She squealed, clutching my hands.

Bevakooph (Idiot).

Bevakooph? How dare this little mouse refer to me as an idiot?

Tum bhavkooph ho. (You're an idiot).

What are these? She inquired, her gaze fixed on the papers in her hand.

Test papers? What else?

Why do you have these?

Because I'm correcting?

Which means?

That mean?

I'm a professor.

Shocked. She looked shocked like I said I was Edison in my previous birth.

Anything else?

Nothing. I'm going to hit the sack. She thrusted the papers back in my hands and ran away. What did I say that she is running away like this?

I took the papers and my bag and shut the terrace door. Because there is no elevator up here, we must take the stairs to the terrace.

I noticed her slowly descending the stairs while holding the railing. Her fingers are small in comparison to my pinky finger.

Stop following me. She came to a sudden halt and scolded me without turning around.

Oh yes, jumping from the terrace is an alternative to taking the stairs. That's what I'll do the next time. I remarked as I passed her. What does she think of herself? A queen?

Veer! Khushi! Two voices beamed at the same time. My mother had one voice, and my sister had the other. She was rooted to the spot.

Khushi, it's good to see you again. Kushi is a nice name. My mind chanted her name like a mantra. Fuck, I'm already attracted to her.

You only saw me yesterday.

Hehehe. Anyway, let me introduce,Aunt. Veer's mother's name. Suganya. She folded her arms and said a sweet namaskar.

Khushi, ungala polavey cute ah irruku unga peru.
(You've a cute name, just like you) Amma chuckled softly, then her gaze fell on me.

Veer, I thought I asked you to pick me up at the airport. Amma fake-glared at me but soon smiled when I hugged her tightly. She is far too easily persuaded.

I could see Khushi standing awkwardly in the middle, unsure what to say. She appeared to be uneasy. She entered her apartment quietly and gently closed the door. Her eyes seemed to be filled with longing. When did I start reading a girl's eyes?

My apartment is now filled with the laughter and conversation of my family's ladies and gentlemen. The children had already fallen asleep. I've brought everything needed for the pooja. Pandit will arrive on time. I just need to get some flowers from the nearby market.

I settled myself on the couch because my bedroom and spare bedroom were occupied by others. I was able to obtain a pillow and a blanket. When I closed my eyes, all I could see were her longing eyes.
Why is she so lonely? What about her family? I just know her brother is no longer alive. She's a real puzzle. When you answer one question, another one appears out of nowhere.

We finished the pooja, but my amma, appa, sister, and his husband were expecting her. She didn't show up. How did my entire family know her? What spell did she cast on them? It must be Priya's work. Stupid sister.

I handed Priya my apartment key, stood in front of my door, wearing shoes. It's 8 a.m.,Where did she go so early?

We only invited a few friends to our housewarming party. Ms. Gupta, our landlord, and a few others I barely spoke with.

I'm going to get us some breakfast. I've ordered it before, but now I'm going to get it because they don't deliver to groups of 20.

Mr. Govind, who would chase anything and everything in the skirt, questioned me about my neighbor while me, appa, and machan (Brother in law) were serving the food.

Khushi hasn't arrived yet, yaar? Oh, she didn't show up. She never goes to any social gatherings. Despite the fact that I invited her to my second daughter's birthday party, she did not attend.

What should I say? Persuade her to come to the party. I'm tempted to yell at him and tell him to mind his own fucking business.

Do you want another vada? I asked him and gave him two vadas to get him to stop talking.

She lives alone here. That's everything I know about her. There is no set time for her to arrive, and I don't always see her. Why did he inquire of me? Anyway, it doesn't matter to me.

It doesn't matter to him, huh? What do you think? 🤔
