THE MOMENT MADELYN HAD BEEN DREADING HAD FINALLY ARRIVED, she finally had her long awaited surgery that she was terrified of, and her first round of chemo had begun.

her back hurt like a bitch after the surgery, being on bed rest for two weeks because of it was almost automatic. she was convinced she would've stayed on bed rest anyways, regardless of the doctors telling her to do so or not.

but, the problem with her being on bed rest is, well, she wouldn't know if she got any permanent damage or paralysis for two weeks, not until she walked. which was the main risk of the surgery that she was dreading.

but, madelyn was in so much pain that walking was the last thing on her mind.

morphine was instantly prescribed to her to help with the pain, so, for the span of the two weeks she was either in an extreme amount of pain, or, higher than shit.

"—are you hungry?" miles asked from his position of kneeling down beside her bed, madelyn laid on her side, facing him as she shook her head no groggily. miles had been keeping her company for the past few days.

she couldn't really move from her bed, so she was pretty miserable.

"you sure? i haven't seen you eat anything in three days" he said with concern as he grabbed her hand. madelyn stared at him with her eyes half open before she spoke, "too tired" she mumbled.

every conversation miles has had with her since she got out of her surgery had been while she was sky high, literally so high that she was unaware of what was going on around her.

chemo side effect number one: loss of appetite.

not only had that been a side effect of her chemo just beginning, but also just from how much morphine she was on.

miles reached his other hand up, stroking her hair that was in a messy bun, she really did look like death was reigning itself down on her at that moment. "do you need anything?" he lowly asked,

"a hug" she slurred out as she held his hand. making miles sigh, "i think i'd hurt you if i hugged you" he glanced at her position on the bed, knowing she wasn't sitting up any time soon.

"a million dollars" she slurred out again, making miles laugh at her response, she wanted to laugh with him, but she was so tired and out of it that she could hardly move.

chemo side effect number two: extreme fatigue.

she hadn't really done anything but sleep for the past few days.
