Louis watched as the sun overcast the mortal world with a grim face. He'd been watching his brother, Zayn, the God of sky and thunder, to pass the time. The immortal God envied his younger brother, happy and content with his wife and child, the regal man ignorant to the lonely cries of his younger brother.
"My Lord, you're awake," Niall addresses from behind him. This was the angel of death and aided him in his carrying of late souls into his abyss. "Is everything alright? You've been watching the sun set above for weeks."
It was below freezing in the underworld permitting Louis to grow used to the climate eons ago. "Niall, has thou ever inherit a feeling of emptiness at the thought of being alone?"
"Sir?" he asks, not quite understanding.
Louis groans. "Oh Niall, I wish only to have someone by my side in my eternal ruling of this damned hellhole. I require a queen, like my mindless welp of a brother."
It was not fair. Why do the higher gods torment him with this blasphemous job? It was the luck of the draw, who would reign over the sky and rain, yet he felt cheated. Zayn had it all. The smarts, the brains, the looks, everything that fit the criteria of being God. And here Louis was, left with the role of the baby brother's fill, and sat for eternity in a pothole where dead souls slither through.
"I should be ruler! Perrie should technically be mine! I should be in Olympus!" he yells, each sentence more aggressive than the last. His hair stuck up like a burning flame and the fires engulfed himself and almost Niall, for if he did not know to draw back.
"Sir, remember your temper," Niall minded. "You'll upset the souls and I haven't the time to clean and gather them all up again."
Louis can hardly breath with the anger embedded in him, but soon enumerates the back-handed reminder that he must remain calm. The flames go out just as quickly as they came. "You are right, Niall."
"I know I am. For starters, you don't even like the females. You share an interest in males that Lord Zayn continuously teases you for."
Louis fixes his dark tunic over his shoulders and grunts. "Not the point, slave."
Niall chuckles. "Is your slave not enough for you, sire?"
No. Niall could never fill the void in his heart that he swore on his life Gods never shared the feelings in. The yearning for affection and, dare he say it, love.
"It is not the same and you know if well enough," the God sighed. "I need someone to hold. Someone who could rule over this- this...barren land of grief and deprive it of that. I want to bear a child with him, make him mine forever. But where can I find such a person? Where will I meet a boy like that? Where would- Niall it's very rude to look away when I am ranting to you about my love life."
Niall no longer held his attention, as he stared behind him into the portal of the pond that connected the spirit realm to this one of misery. "Sir, you may want to turn around."
With the tiny shred of patience wearing, he turned to look into the portal to- oh........oh my.
"What- where- who is that?"
There beyond the pond stood a small framed demi-god, from what Louis could sense of his power, more beautiful than any wholesome God Louis has sure he's ever seen. Curls graced the top of the boy's head completed with a floral crown, some strands falling over lime green eyes. His youthful chubby cheeks poked out, along with his plump, glossy red lips. His dress looked original and stargaze white, covering over his long legs enticingly and hugging him in all the right places. He was stunning, in his own right.
