As we were eating the noddles, I realized 2 packets of spice weren't my thing. I was secretly huffing for air while, she ate more like it was nothing to her. Her spice tolerance was insane.
Having endured enough approximately in one and half packet, I dropped the plate and took ice cream bowl in hands. Without thinking of the way I was presenting myself in front of her, I kept scooping he ice cream into my mouth.
Kavin: Mein sach keh raha hun. (Bites) age se yeh ghtia cheez (bites) kabhi nahi khane wala mein (bites) chahe marne hi kyun na wala hun mein.
Purvi: Tum bhi na
I heard her laugh. My eyes narrowed at the bowl before falling on Purvi, who was ate the rest of the noddles too. As she finished she placed the plate on the tray and picked her bowl of ice cream.
Taking one stick of kit kat, she put it between her lips and bit it slowly. Just like a mouse you know. A big beautiful mouse.
Kavin: Iss mein hasne wali baat nahi hai
Purvi: Sure
She smiled
The ice cream in both the bowls finished and it was finally the time for the talk. After returning the tray to the kitchen, I sat in front of her to answer every single question of hers.
We sat silently for a few minutes. She played with her hands in her lap. While I decided to lay on my side of the bed and wait for her to speak something.
Purvi: Tum apni family ke bare mein bata rahe the.
Kavin: purvi mein tumse kuch chupana nahi chahta. Sach toh yeh hai, meri koi family nahi. Mein bin family ke bara hua hun.
I closed my eyes and waited for her to lash out in frustration or disappointment but not a word come from her mouth. This I opened my eyes and found her staring at me.
Purvi: theek hai
Theek hai?
I quickly rose up from the sleeping posture and sat in front of her in desi style.
Kavin: Okay? Mujhe laga tum gussa ho gayi. Maine tumhe pehle nahi bataya.
Purvi: Toh kya hua. Ab kuch na kuch toh hona tha. Aur waise bhi meri shaadi tumse hui hai, tumhari family se thodi na.
Now you all see why I love her
She placed her legs on the same side and leaned on the other side with support of her hands. Her bangles clinged together with each movement she made.
Purvi: Toh tum yahan akele rehte ho?
Kavin: Haan, pehle ek dog hota tha mere pass. Par phir woh mar gaya toh maine dobara koi pet nahi liya. Unke jane ka dhuk bohut hota hai. Kahi bar safi karne ke liya ek aunty aati hain Sunday ko. Zyadar time office mein bitta hai mera. Aur ghar saf hi rehta hai, you know.
His lips curled into an o shape for seconds before she stopped talking and slipped into some deep thoughts.
Kavin: kya soch rahi ho?
Purvi: Tum ab bhi sara time office mein hi bitaoge?
So my wife was worried if I would spent time with her, right?
Kavin: Nahi! Bilkul nahi. Ab toh waise bhi koi ho gayi jo mera bhi intezar kar rahi ho gayi. Aur ghar toh jaldi aana hi ho gaya na.
We smiled at each other, her hand moved to push their hairs from face which was bowed down. As she lifted her head gently with her hand below her ears and looked at me with those lips in a soothing smile, the inside of my stomach tickled.
Purvi: Mein ek baat bolu?
Kavin: zaroor bolo, mujhse kyun puch rahi ho
Purvi was full of unexpected action that was why I had no idea, she would so such a thing right now. She crept closer to me and wrapped her arms around my arms, placing her head on my shoulder.
My chest rose and fell which could be felt by her. I was hesitant to hold her at first since the moment had left me in a shock.
She looked at me dead in the eye and cupped my face.
Purvi: Tum meri majboori nahi.
Kavin: Purvi
Purvi: Mujhe pata hai tumhe bura lag raha ho gaya. Aur yeh bhi ho sakta hai, tumhe age bhi bura lage. Toh mein bas clear kar rahi thi ki ab tumse meri shaadi hui hai, ab yeh baat socho ki meri kismat mein tum the. Aur baki sab tension ko maro goli.
Her hands rose from my shoulder before patting them harshly twice.
Purvi: Samjhe?
I nodded my head positivity and watched her smile.
Purvi: Good! Waise mein bata dun mein duki nahi hun
She moved from beside me and stood on the bed studying the room. The only thing I regretted was not holding her back when I could have.
Purvi: Ab tum soch rahe ho gaye kyun, toh mein bata dun ki mujhe koi farak nahi parta. Ab tum hi batao, usne mujhe dhokha diya toh mein kyun apne asu uss par waste karu? Yeh toh injustice hua na.
Kavin: Obviously
Purvi: phir mujhe aaya gussa aur maine socha shaadi toh mein Aaj hi karugi. Agar phir koi befkoof dhund liya apne liye toh? Baad mein galti na ho iss liye maine bhi Aaj hi shaadi karne ki raat laga di. Aur dekho, dulha bhi mil gaya. Tum waise bohut lucky ho yaar. Shaadi mein aaye the, shaadi kar ke dulhan hi le gaye.
She fell on her knees in front of me and gave me a mischievous look.
Purvi: kya kismat hai tumhari.
Exactly, kya kismat hai meri.
Seeing her talk and laugh like the way I had always seen, it was peace to my soul. The feeling of euphoria was high. When ever she touched me between her talks or would lean on me while laughing at her own jokes.
We spent the night talking to each other and also deciding, what I would wearing for the reception tomorrow. Even if the marriage wasn't what she had expected today, she acted like she was happy with it and accepted what her fate had for her.
Such was my love.
Purvi (timid voice): Ek baat puchu?
Kavin: pucho
Purvi: Baat thodi ajeeb hai, waise
Kavin: Purvi, jo puch na hai pucho
She caught her fingers tightly and bowed her head in embarrassment.
Purvi: Tumhara naam kya hai?
