"You know, I never really thought that the Minecraft soundtrack would be great background music."

The music echoed in his head, and he wasn't entirely sure what it was doing or if it even was the song. It played quietly in the common room, almost lulling Hitoshi to sleep as he laid on the couch.

Almost.

There had been a tug in his brain that he couldn't explain. Something in his chest was choking him metaphorically. Words bubbled in his brain, unspoken and unknown. Hitoshi sat thinking in silence.

Sensing his lingering silence and strange atmosphere he had since the beginning of their nightly hangout, Y/n glanced at their bed-headed friend. He had a hand to his chin and a frown tugging lighty at his bottom lip. "You alright, Toshi?"

"Why do you do this?" He had asked.

Y/n's eyes widened in surprise and confusion. There was a confused and strained tone to his voice that gave them a little worry. As gently as they could, they asked him. "Do what?"

"I—" Hitoshi took a few moments to find the right words. "I don't know. But whenever I'm here with you, I just feel...comfortable? Able to be myself? And you somehow get me to sleep. How do you even do that?"

They hummed, and Hitoshi turned to steal a glance at their face. A small smile graced their looks and he couldn't help but stare for longer than he should have. They shrugged their shoulders but the smile never left. "Not quite sure myself, either. But if you want me to be honest, you make me feel comfortable, too."

He turned to the side to face them fully. With lidded eyes and a hushed whisper he asked. "What do you mean?"

They turned to face him and he was met with a look that mirrored his own. "Well, what do you mean?"

He turned his body back to watch the ceiling with slightly flushed cheeks. What did he mean?

Man, Mice on Venus was really doing shit to his brain.
