The sound of your alarm clock blaring was always hell for you to wake up to. Barely awake you sat up, looking over at the source of the noises.
6:30!?! Why the hell was it set so early....well, early for you."Shut up you sad excuse for technology." You yanked the cord out from the outlet, stopping the beeping. Groaning, you got up and went to the bathroom, getting ready start a new day. Once done you went to your small kitchen to get some breakfast.
"Ahh, cereal again. Why can't I get paid more? I hardly have enough to keep this apartment." You continued talking to yourself while sitting down and eating your food. In the middle of discussing why orange juice was so expensive now a days, you saw something that made your heart stop. On the calender that was hanging on the refridgerator was todays date circled many times in red sharpie. ( Hide's birthdate hasn't been mentioned yet so......)
Hide's birthday!! How could you have forgotten. Quickly finishing your breakfast you rushed out of your apartment, climbing down the stairs since you just had to be on the third fucking floor and ran towards your destination thanking god that it wasn't to far from where you lived.
After six minutes of pushing people out of your way and throwing apologizes over your shoulder , you were finally there.
Flowers were every where , surrounding your vision and senses. They decorated hundreds of head stones, all except one. The flowers were wilted and the petals scattered around it. Walking towards it, you saw that the sun was completely blocked off from giving the flowers what they needed. You looked up and cursed the giant tree that was hovering over you and the stone.
You sat down in front of the head stone and glanced at the name of the person that was resting there.
"Happy birthday Hide." You were silent after that, not knowing what to say to the one that you loved. You tried visiting him every day but work and college just got in the way. The prevented you from getting him fresh flowers, talking with him and overall being with him. You felt tears fleeing from your eyes and dropping silently on the soft grass. You suddenly took noticed of the grass. You saw how 'new' and unbothered it looked. Everyone elses seemed worn and old from all those times that people visited. Were you the only that came to see Hide? Were you the only one that cared he was gone? Ever since kaneki disappeared off the face of the earth, ( Reader-chan never knew that kaneki was a ghoul therefore never knew what happened to him) it seems like you were the only one that even bothered to remember him.
More tears fell and you hastily wiped at them. You never did like to look weak in front of Hide and you weren't ready to start now.
"Hide.....I want you to know that I will never forget you.I will never forget that you existed. I love you.Me and Kaneki, wherever he is, we both love you." You were surprised at what you said. You knew that he and Hide were the best of friends but you didn't know what made you mention him. Maybe it was because you felt better knowing that someone loved Hide just as much as you did. Well, whatever it was , you didn't take it back because deep down you knew it was true. Hours have passed from you telling Hide all the thing that have happened since the last time you have visited him. Sad moments, happy moments, you name it.
After a few minutes of just taking in the feel of the wind and the blowing of the dead flower petals, you said
" Looks like I need to get you some new flowers. Why do they keep on wilting when they have the brightest sun of them all right under them? Im not kidding! Whenever i was sad, your smile alone helped me get through the day. Anyway , I was thinking ..... since this big ass tree here is hogging up all the sunlight, why don't I just by plastic ones? It will save me the money from having to buy them all the time, though I never minded because I knew they were for you." You got up and brushed the dirt and petals from your pants.
" I'll go buy some for you now.I won't be long , promise." You bent down to kiss the cold stone and collect the dead flowers. While walking out of the cemetery, you disposed of the flowers and made your way to a flower shop that sold the best (fake) flowers money could buy.
You didn't bother rushing because as far as you knew the cemetery wasn't going anywhere. Neither was Hide.
