Ok, this is the first thing I wrote in like ages so I would really appreciate some feedback. :)

PS: There is no Xavier in it yet, but this is just the background story.

______

(Y/N's POV | parallel existence)

„Ceremony. Sea of fortune. At midnight. Compulsory attendance."

I laid in my bed and stared at the piece of paper in my hands. I knew exactly what it meant. It was the final test every student must pass. The moment I was scared of for my whole life.

It was 9 pm already and there was no way I could even close my eyes for a second at this point so I decided to get dressed and work on my book of spells to distract me from the uprising anxiety of tonight's event. I've been working on one specific spell for nearly two months and it just wouldn't work. Maybe I should collect some more herbs in the forest. The clock stroke 10 pm. Ok, time to go. I armed myself, grabbed my stuff and took a deep breath. Sea of fortune it is.

The area around the sea of fortune wasn't exactly the safest place in hell. It was a one hour hike from my Academy. Better be prepared. After half an hour I was already deep inside the forest.

„Hey Y/L/N! Didn't think you had to show up on this. Thought your dad would let you pass for free." I rolled my eyes. Wow, that's just who I needed right now. Tristan, the probably most arrogant guy in the whole world.

Yeah, my dad...he has many names. The one and only, the dark lord, the king of hell. It wasn't easy standing in his shadow. But as you might think he wasn't a good example for a father figure. He was cruel and didn't care about me.

„Nice to see you too, Tristan."

„Leave her alone, dumbass!" Another voice came out of the dark. Oh thank god! „Christopher!" He smiled brightly and I ran into his arms. He hugged me tightly and I hid my face in his neck. He always smells so good. My heart jumped in my chest and my legs went weak. No, god, he's your best friend, Y/N. I quickly shook off the feeling and let go of him. „I'm so glad you're here!"

„Of course I'm here. Did you really think I'd let you do this on your own?" he said jokingly.

Not every student was allowed to attend the final test. It was only a few who were invited and even fewer that passed the test. The history about it was long and since the sea of fortune was pretty much unpredictable, it happened from time to time that some of the students didn't come out of this alive. If you passed though, you were more likely to get a top-ranking position in hell.

We both walked on silently, always ready to fight if someone or something dared to attack us, but the forest was strangely silent.

„Something about this doesn't feel right," I whispered to Christopher.

„I know what you mean by that. It's too silent tonight." I bet he saw the concerned look on my face because suddenly he grabbed me by my shoulders. „But listen, Y/N, whatever happens tonight...we will make it through ok? You're the smartest sorcerer I know. If someone's gonna make it...it's you."

I simply nodded. I hope you're right.

After another 5 minute walk we reached the sea of fortune. I've been here before several times because of the rare herbs and spices you can collect around the area, but that was only at daytime. For safety purposes only of course. But tonight the sea was breathtaking. It shimmered in a silvery blue colour and it seemed like the water was replaced by a thicker texture because it didn't even move at all.
