The sky was dark, as clouds covered all the light from the sun, and the entire town swallowed in darkness and silence. That is until steps are heard running across the ground, a boy with short black hair and a tall shadowy figure can be seen running through the woods, disappearing behind each tree he runs behind. As he runs suddenly he trips on something poking out of the ground, a box.
A strange box is the reason for his fall, the box is old and worn out, the boy picks it up and stares at the box confused and decides to try and pull it open. It's bonded with thick metal chains but after time in the earth, it's been worn down.
As he pulls the top of the box open suddenly a plume of black smoke rises from the chest and dives down onto the young boy engulfing him completely and leaving nothing left.
From the smoke, a man appears. He's angry and hungry for revenge against the ones who have imprisoned him.
The sun's rays were peeking through my bedroom window trying to wake me up, I hated getting up early, I just want to rise when my body tells me to and no earlier.
The yells of my mam bounce off the walls of the hall and pierce my ears, " JOSHH!!! GET OUT OF BED AND GET READY FOR SCHOOL!!! YOUR GOING TO BE LATEEEE!!". Now isn't that just the sound of love, I kicked myself up from the bed rubbing my eyes and watched as my reflection in the mirror facing my bed greets me with an ugly face. I got up and opened my wardrobe to find my school uniform, I never liked my uniform, it was a dark blue colour with grey trousers and blue shoes. Disgusting.
I walked downstairs after getting dressed to be greeted by my mam and two half-cooked slice's of bread with butter lazily swiped across them, "Oohhh look at you my little star, all ready for school." My mam put her hands on both my cheeks and I jerked back a bit with the shock of how cold her palms were, " eat quickly alright, you don't want to be late".
I knew my mam was acting all nice and pleasant but if I wasn't out the door in the next 10 minutes hell would rain upon me, I finished my toast and grabbed my bag sitting on the chair beside me.
I checked my hair in the mirror one last time, my eyes were looking dashingly blue as always and my brown hair shone in the light, and with that confidence boost, I was on my way. At the crossroads I would meet my friend Daniel, we always walked to school together, we grew up together and were basically brothers.
I was always the first at our meeting place and would have to wait a little, I didn't mind though, the lady living in the house I would wait by was a beautiful singer and would hum to herself in the morning.
Daniel shortly arrived and told me all about his weekend. Daniel was a great friend, he was loyal and funny and could always make me feel better about myself even on the worst of days. He had short black hair styled into a mullet, I didn't like mullets on people but he somehow pulled it off. He was also tall and had brown eyes.
As we would approach the school gates I frowned, I didn't care for school, at all. Everyone was talking crap about everyone behind each other's backs, if you weren't talking crap, most likely people were talking crap about you. There were always the attention seekers, the drama queens, the shit talkers and the know-it-alls.
I specifically hated the shit-talkers, it's kinda sad when you think about it. Their parents never loved them enough so they have to talk badly about others to make their own lives feel
The actual day during school ran like all the others, first two classes then small lunch then another two classes and then a big break where people would either throw down, get their hearts broken, or smack talk.
After all that, we would have two more classes and then go home. After class was an hour each and so was big lunch. After all that we would stroll out of the building like zombies and collapse into bed to fall asleep and wake up to do it all over again, it was a dreary existence.
After school Daniel and I would go our separate ways and go home, when I would come back to the house before I got inside my mam would always tell me to bring in the post.
I looked in the post box and found your average stuff, bills, advertisements, a rubbish hoover and...... hold on.... What's this?
There was a letter in the post addressed to me, it was for a party in one of the local houses, I always heard it was abandoned but apparently, it was renovated in the last year and the new homeowners have a son who is joining the school and wants to throw a party to get to know the neighbourhood.
I was very excited about the party, I didn't like most of the people in my school but this was the perfect opportunity to get up to some fun.
Maybe tonight I would have my first smoke or even my first drink. I was ecstatic, and what's better than a party where drama is going to run a muck, much more entertaining than most of my normal evenings.
I ran straight upstairs and chose my nicest hoody and trousers for the event, when the time came I put a packet of breathe mints in my pocket and sprayed a gallon of deodorant on myself.
I was ready.
I said goodbye to my mam and closed the door behind me, she wanted me to stay longer so she could take a picture and hug me goodbye but I told her I was too old for that stuff.
I opened the front door and walked out with the confidence of a gladiator, I walked through the streets as the sun was almost completely gone under the horizon, the house was situated on a large field a little into the woods.
As I walked through the gates I saw the house, I saw three other people on the porch who were also going to the party, as I joined them on the porch I looked up at the house, it was very big.
I didn't recognise them and I don't think they went to my school but I didn't care, I was ready to have fun tonight.
Sadly I had no idea what was about to happen next.
