They had all cleared a space large enough to sit on the floor in a circle. George watches Karl climb into Sapnap's lap, his eyes displaying his need for touch. Sapnap wraps him up in a warm embrace without a second of hesitation, burying his nose in the other's fluffy hair.

George craved it too. Shivers crawl up his spine, tingling his fingers to grip tighter. His and Dream's entwined hands weren't enough. Nothing would ever be enough.

The silence between them hurt George within the depths of his soul. This wasn't how their meeting was supposed to go. They were supposed to be going to Twitchcon, filming IRL content, and having public Twitter arguments squished together on the sofa, giggling at their fans' dumb memes.

He feels three pairs of eyes following him as he crawls closer to Dream. His back presses against the taller's warm form, melting into the touch with a tired sigh. He had no justification on his lips, or insult to toss at Sapnap, who was intensely staring at them.

His heart flutters in his chest as Dream hooks his arms around him, brushing his nose into George's temple. His touches were soft and quiet, hands smoothing the fine hair on his arms, fitting his palm into George's open one like a perfect puzzle piece.

"We can't even talk to our parents." Karl mumbles, causing their eyes to snap off their respective candles, or in George's case Dream's hand, that had captured their attention.

"Were you not in North Carolina?" George asks quietly.

"I know. But I left with Sapnap as soon as we heard." Karl murmurs. The other frowns, if only subtly. He knew the two were very close friends, but Karl was always talking about how much he loved his family. He couldn't think of a reason why he decided to leave his home state.

Sapnap stays eerily silent, eyes flicking to the floor with guilt. He gestures to Dream with a slight nod.

"They're dating." Warm breath tickles his forehead, as the words slowly sink in. "Since last week. They told me when they got back."

Karl focused his attention solely on his lover. "I choose to come with you. My decision isn't your fault Sap." The rush of intimacy radiating off the both of them makes George retreat into Dream's touch even more, digesting the fact that two of his best friends were dating.

And now all this. It was so unfair.

"Congrats. Both of you." It lacks much happiness. They nod solemnly, regret flashing in their faces. George had a feeling there was something there for quite a few months now. But how were they supposed to know the fucking world would go to shit back then?

The depressed atmosphere was only making George more tired. "So what's with all the candles?" He asks, jolting them all out of their stupors.

"I've always wanted to light a bunch of them like this. So we walked to Target. People were trying to hoard food and water more than candles. Kinda stupid if you ask me." Karl giggles, and for just a moment the light that usually brightened his face was back.

Well he's got a point, even if he was joking. If people were going underground, they would need light. And how would they heat up their meals? Regardless, he doubts there are lighters growing in the dirt down there.

"Come on," George gets up and tugs at Dream's hand, hauling him up to stand next to him. He offers the same to Sapnap, who pulls Karl up along with him with confusion drawing his eyebrows together.

"What's wrong with you George?" Dream chuckles softly.

"I'm hungry, and you guys are being boring." He replies, leading them through the maze of flickering flames to get to the door. "So we're making pizza."
