Ultimate lucky student. That title is a mockery of me.
I’m… Yozora Sora. I’ve spent my entire life in this orphanage, but it is sort of lucky since the orphanage would kick me out if I didn’t leave by now. It’s useful that they let you live in the dorms a month early.
“So, this is the place.” I mutter as I walk through the gate.
The kids made sure I wore my best today. A offwhite dress shirt with a red sweater vest, black skirt and mary janes, my hair in a ponytail with my scrunchie and white socks to complete my appearance.
The pamphlet tells me to head to the Student living office, “They don’t even give me a map, guess I’ll have to figure it out myself… as always.” I mutter and walk into the doors.
Left, right, stairwell, classroom, another left?! North!? EAST!? No, no, downstairs?

“How big is this place…?” I groan to myself,
“Excuse me dear, are you lost?”
I hear a woman's voice behind me and I spin around.
A black haired woman with a long drill ponytail hairstyle and gothic clothes.
“Yes I am, do you work here?” I ask.
The woman walks towards me. “Yes, I am Celestia Ludenberg, former Super highschool level gambler and current finance manager of Hope's Peak academy. You are?” She introduces herself. “I’m Yozora Sora, the new super highschool level Lucky student, nice to meet you.” I answer.
Ms.Ludenberg looks almost like Yumeko…
“Now Sora, are you looking for the student living office?” She inquiries. “Yes ma’am, could you direct me?” I request. “Just one more thing. Yozora, are you familiar with gambling?” Ms.Ludenberg asks.
“I know how to play blackjack and I know the rules of poker.”
So here I am in Ms.Ludenberg’s office, a room with shelves of binders, games, and a deck of card's color scheme, and I’m watching her shuffle someecards.
“Yozora, I want to test your luck. All the other lucky students I’ve met have exceptionally odd luck, I wish to see yours. So how about a game of black jack?” She states.
I only have six thousand yen, if she’s the former Super highschool level gambler she must be richer than rich.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t have any spare cash to gamble with at the moment.” I explain. “Oh, don’t worry about that. You don’t have to bet with money, you’ll bet with whether I help you or not.” she asserts
“So if I win you help me-” “yes, and you get what you and I bet combined, If you loose, you must wander the school on your own.” She interrupts me.
“Okay then, I can agree on these terms.”
Ms.Ludenberg deals the cards and places a stack of 1000 yen bills on the table.
“I’ll be betting, 150,000. Now let the game begin” she informs
This hand is fairly good, an ace, and an eight. It would be stupid of me to take another card, like seriously stupid if I use this ace as an eleven, I’m at a total of nineteen or nine, but if I take too long to decide she’ll know…
I tap the table.
A two, that can bring me to a total of 21. Perfect.
“Now, lets see my hand. Two tens, So you win. I’m not surprised every other lucky student I’ve met has always beaten me.” She collects the cards. “Now, you said you need to find the student living office?” She asks.
“Yes, uhm thank you?” I exclaim.
150,000 yen. Damn. My paychecks from my old waitress job always went to food at the orphanage. Never got to keep it to myself. I want to buy… new clothes? Sweets? Books?
