"L-Look!! She's walking!! ███, [Y/N], look, ████ is walking!!"

At the call of our names, the pale woman and I had turned away from the flower I had been allured by, and turned towards the taller male who had beckoned for us. He was holding out his arms for the small child in front of him, whom had shakily walked over with a giggle.

The woman had gasped before excitedly running over, gawking over the child. I tilted my head as I stood up from the floor, picking up the flower before I had decided to join the group.

The small child had turned to me with a large smile, before crawling up to my leg. I let a small smile appear on my face as I kneeled down, lightly pulling on her cheeks.

"Awwwe, ██████ aren't they just adorable?"

"That they are, honey."

I stared at the giggling baby before looking up at the two adults, as I then proceeded to hand them the child. They looked at me, clearly confused before I pointed in a direction.

"Marines."

The pale lady had frowned as she pat my head and nodded me away, and I ran off.

"Whoa there little lady, be careful!" Said a voice as I had run through the city. I didn't acknowledge them as I slipped into an alleyway. I probably looked weird to any tourists, but citizens here were used to this.

Bad experience with the marines equals hiding whenever you see them. It's common knowledge, less you're a pirate.

"Pssst, [Y/N], over here!"

My head rose as I turned to look at a giggling female and her friend, who had gestured for me to follow them. I had done so, and they eventually led me to a cave.

"Sorry, ███ learned to walk so I didn't really think about coming here... I wanted to be close so I could run back," I apologized to the two, one of which waved me off while the other turned starry-eyed.

"███ learned to walk?! And I missed it?!? Curse those dumb marines, always ruining the fun!" The maroon headed female cursed.

I let out a small laugh as the male next to me shook his head as he made marks in the floor with a stick.

"Hey, [Y/N], since you're a big word girl, if you had to choose one word to describe me, what would it be?"

I looked at the girl strangely, before giving her a deadpanned look. "Annoying," I muttered, and her friend had laughed as she irked.

"Hey, shut up ███! You're pretty annoying too, you know!"

"As if," he rolled his eyes, throwing his stick at
████.

"If you had to describe me with one word, what would it be?" I eventually asked as the two of them calmed down.

████ put her hand up to her chin, clearly thinking hard. Eventually she perked up.

"Oooh, I know! It'd be—"

"—Melancholy."

I let out a sour chuckle as I looked over the ledge of the cliff.

"Heh, isn't that a word to describe sadness?"

"You seem to carry it everywhere you go."

I let out a hum as ████ stood next to me. "Those are the exact words we said when we were younger," I sighed as I remembered the scene.

"It's...," The female began, pausing to search for her words. "...Worrying, that you're still the exact same."

"Your past always haunts you. That's what I live by."

"Then why'd you tell them your past was dead?"

"Because she is."
