Recap: the last book ended with you assisting Ava in defeating Adriel, you took the blast to save Ava and the only way you could be saved was to go to the other side. All you remember when passing through the Arc was a bright white light.

Some time passes and you feel a warm light on your face, you slowly open your eyes only to raise your arm to block the light from your eyes.  Once your eyes adjust to the sunlight, you slowly sit up and take a look at your surroundings.

You could see walls and a huge gate of what looked like the entrance to a city in the far distance. It was the same as before, same desert like wasteland. You can feel the warm sand underneath your body, and you can feel it shift as you start to get up to your feet. You can still feel the shards of the divinium inside you. With every movement you made you could feel it moving slightly, but you push on for as long as you can before you feel your legs give out and let the exhaustion take over.

Ava, Bea and Camila are still at the Arc. Camila sitting down on the arc with Bea and Ava trying their best to console her.

"We should go meet back up with the others, they will probably wonder where we are." Says Bea as she puts one of her hands on Camila's shoulder. Ava wipes her eyes and nods standing up next to Bea.

"I'm not leaving, what if she comes back and we aren't here!" Says Camila

"Jillian will send some of her people for the Arc. We will have her monitor her in case she comes back through the portal." Says Bea

It took some time but Ava and Bea eventually get Camila to stand and they begin walking to find the rest of the group. Everyone seemed happy to see that all 3 of them are okay and safe but  Camila walks straight past them and heads straight to the van.

Father Vincent walks up to Ava and Bea.

"Where is Michael and Y/n?" He asks

"Lilith killed Michael, ripped his heart out before he could get close enough to Adriel. Adriel and I were fighting, and Y/n kept Lilith distracted. I was losing in the fight, I had to halo pulse into Michael, the blast hit him, but it wasn't enough to kill him. Y/n took the blast for me, which is why I am unharmed. We had no choice but to  put her through the portal before it closed. Camila took it hard."Says Ava

"Very well, the van is waiting for us. I'm sure Mother Superion and Jillian are waiting for our return. We better get going before any police come." He says

The pair follows him back to the van with the others and everyone gets in to head back to the compound. The ride was silent. Bea could tell Ava was nervous, her leg was bouncing up and down rapidly. Bea put her hand on Ava's knee causing her to break from her thoughts and look up at her.  She seemed to relax a bit. Ava grabs her hand interlocking their fingers together.

"I'll let Mother Superion know what happened. Why don't you go in and get changed and I will meet you in your room?" Asks Bea in a whisper, so only Ava could hear her.

"Thank you." Ava whispers back still holding Bea"s hand

Eventually fhe van comes to a stop and everyone slowly gets out. Camila goes straight past Mother Superion and Jillian, heading straight inside.

Bea nods to Ava and she heads to her room.

"I will debrief you guys on what happened." Says Bea

The three of them head to the office to discuss what went down. Jillian was devastated to learn about her son's passing, but she knew it was possible outcome for Michael.

"Is Camila alright? I know she was close with Y/n". Says Jillian

"She took it pretty hard; she was able to say goodbye, but she didn't want to leave the Arc in case she came back through." Says Bea
