It was about my 17th birthday when I figured out the real me, and what I was suppose to be in life. I always questioned who I was. I knew I didn't belong here. I stood out too much. My long brown hair, with bangs that swept over my eyes ever so slightly. My grey/blue eyes, that change depending on the weather. My since In style was different from everybody else. My smile contains of straight white teeth. Occasionally I wear glasses for reading. I was put into foster care when I was 10 because both my patents died in a tragic car accident. I was the only child so I didn't have to worry about being split up. I've been to family to family over the years. But the Johnson family took me in. The Johnson's are actually my aunt and uncle. Everywhere else I went I got kicked out of school because strange things happen. Windows shattering, hurricanes forming, and deaths. People think my aunt and uncle are weird and dangerous because they still believe in Greek mythology. So now people thinks weird of me. I just got in town and I can hear everyone talking about me and my family. How weird the Johnson's freak of a niece

The weekend before school finally came. I had to get my clothes ready, and my bag. I just wanted to start fresh. Clean slate. I went to the school the day before to get my classes. I had history, English, science and then math.

I wasn't picky with my clothes. I chose a blue v-neck with shorts and an owl necklace my mom gave me before she died. I braided my bangs back. I put my bag on and went down stairs.

"Let me look at you darling." My aunt said.

She just looked and gave me a Strange smile. She was as strange as everyone said she was.

"Oh Hayley, you look wonderful. Just what your parents would of wanted to have you wear.

I didn't think I stood out too much, but apparently I did. I walked through the doors and everyone stopped talking as soon I pasted then. Then they started to talk again as soon as I was gone. I had my books in one hand and I could feel my cheeks getting hot. I could hear them talking about my family and my pervious family. I walked into history class and all eyes were on me.

"I heard her family got murdered by the gods themselves." I heard a girl say.

"I hear her uncle practices dark magic." Another guy said.

I keep hearing things and they wouldn't stop. I walked over to the back of the room and sat down. Making sure it was the furthest seat from everyone.

"Okay that's enough! Leave her alone." The teacher yelled.

They would not stop. Especially this one girl Emily. She went on and on about how her mama didn't want her to be in the same class as me. I had my hands on the chair and I was shaking. Finally without any control the window blasted leaving shards of glass scattered around the room. Suddenly the sinks around the room shook, water escaped through the pipes. The room transformed into a big hurricane. But this didn't startle me as everyone thought. I was the FREAK they were talking about.

"Not again." I whispered.

School was let out early. I went back home and my aunt Sarah and uncle Jon were waiting for me.

"What happen at school?" My uncle john asked.

"The windows and sinks exploded. What do you expect. I was there, something was bound to go wrong." I sarcastically said.

"Anything you want to tell us?" he asked.

I wanted to tell them that's weird things have been happening. But I couldn't... I just couldn't.

"No. " i said bluntly.

I went upstairs and changed into something more comfortable and put my hair up in a small pony. Then, walked down to the beach. Which was the only good part about living with my aunt and uncle. I put my glasses on and grabbed my sketch book. I always go down to the water when something like this happened. I feel better... More calm.

I was sitting on the beach drawing what I saw a sail boat over the horizon the amazing waves crashing around it. All of a sudden a white owl landed right in front of me. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't draw it it so I took out my phone and, took a picture.

Later, I was listening to pandora, the song "You'll be in my heart" came on. My mom always said she will sing that song at my wedding because I loved it so much. I closed my eyes and let the sound of the song and the waves carry me away. It seemed like hours went by before someone tapped my shoulder. I leaped up, startled by the thought of another person on the beach. I looked over my shoulder and there stood a boy. With dark brown hair, hazel eyes. He was wearing a blue shirt with gym shorts on. He looked sweaty and tired, so I guessed he'd been running for a little while. He looked at me and smiled. When he smiled his eyes beamed. I was astonished. Then I looked down at what I was wearing. I had a pink workout shirt, it had no sleeves and it tied in the back right under my shoulder blades. I also had leggings on. I smiled back weakly completely embarrassed.

"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you." He said. His smiling starting to fade.

"No your fine. I wasn't thinking. I should be paying attention." I said a little fast.

He just looked at me. I know what he was thinking, that I'm a freak Just like my aunt and uncle. But he did something I never expected him to do. He said, "Are you okay?" I just started at him. I had a dazed look; i was shocked and confused.

"Your in my history class... I heard everyone make fun of you and your

Family. "He said calmly.

It took me a few long second to finally say something.

"I'm fine just stupid girls. I'm sure their only talk." I said.

"Yeah don't listen to Emily. She is such a jerk." He said kinda smiling.

"Bet you dated her. ". I sarcastically replied rolling my eyes with disgust.

"Well I..." He started, rubbing the back of his neck.

He didn't Finish his sentence. It was quiet for a little but. Finally I said,

"Thank you."

He looked surprised that i even spoke to him.

"Your welcome." He said back a smile about to burst.

" I'm Cody Bradshaw." He said right after.

I smiled and said

"I'm..." That's all I could say before he he said,

"Hayley Johnson... I know."

I just started at him bluntly. Without a word.

"Please don't pretend that you know me." I finally said as calmly as I could.

"Hey. I just said your name. Everyone has been talking about you for weeks now. Can't go anywhere without hearing something about 'Hayley Johnson' and your uncle and aunt." He said.

"I'm sorry it's not my fault if everyone decides to talk crap about me behind my back." I said.

"I get it. My mom died a few months back from cancer. That's all I ever heard. People feeling 'sorry' for me. It just gets old and you can only take so much before it really reminds you what you miss." He said looking directly at my eyes.

"I'm sorry I didn't know" my eyes swelling.

"You couldn't have, but that's something We have In common. He replied smiling.

We talked for a little while longer. We walked around too. We talked about who we lost; all the rumors.

"How do I know your not a creep and got 20 bucks for talking to me?" I said.

He just laughed and said,

"Let me walk you home."
