sleep never came easy to you and when you do finally manage to drift off the nightmares wake you up gasping for breath in a sweat

obviously today was no different, except for the fact you didn't have your older sister for comfort. it was just you and your stuffed rabbit that you've had since you escaped the red room when you were seven

normally nat gave you plenty of time to prepare for the lack of her cuddles, but today her and maria had apparently made plans. the fact that she even had to give you warning made you feel guilty for weighing her down with your little issue of getting to sleep

of course you had your aunt wanda and your other sister yelena but taking that step to ask - even though you knew the answer would 110% be a yes - was harder to take when you overthought it

would they be busy? would they think you're too old to not sleep alone? maybe they don't want to cuddle you

each question you asked yourself spiraled into another question, it didn't seem to end

a message notification broke you from the very downward spiral

wanda was aware of your insomnia so when she was privy to your thoughts she knew she had to do something about it

the witch could handle sleeping on her own, without valkyrie, but she could never say no to cuddles with her niece, especially when it helped get her some much needed rest

she also knew that if she told you that it was to help you directly then you would feel guilty and yet again fall into the trap of overthinking that she knew all too well

(i remember it all too well) (sorry)

you made quick work of grabbing everything you needed, a blanket and your bunny, and practically sprinted to your aunts room

as you curled into wanda's side she pulled the duvet over the both of you and pulled your head to her chest

no words were spoken between the two of you as your breaths took no time at all to deepen into snores, the comfort of someone holding you caused all the exhaustion you were holding back to wash over you

your snores were normally like your sister's, loud and boisterous, but today wanda's ears were in luck as they seemed to quieten. the witch awed out loud when you took a rather large breath in a snuggled further into her t-shirt

she thought you looked so adorable she took a picture and sent it to your sister
