Chapter Four: Rebel

(New York City, 2033)  

"POLICE FORCE. DO NOT RESIST. OPEN YOUR DOOR AND COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. FORCE WILL BE TAKEN." A police officer shouts, banging his fist on the door while several dozen ICE members surround the small home. I fumble for my revolver sitting on my nightstand. 

"THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE. YOU HAVE 10 SECONDS TO OPEN THE DOOR BEFORE WE WILL BREACH." The officer yelled, I could hear footsteps going back and forth, building up the momentum to ram down the door. 

I grab the revolver, checking that it's fully loaded and dive behind a couch, a trench knife facing out in my other fist. The door falls down, I hear the footsteps of 6 men entering the home, 3 through the door and 3 through 3 separate windows. I swing the revolver up to my line of sight and fire at the man that entered through the living room window. I hear a whimpered sob before he falls to the ground, I dive for his rifle. I grab his rifle and quickly shift to take care of the other five. One opens fire and hits my left arm, I fire blindly, luckily hitting all five of them. Before re-enforcements can arrive, I jump into my truck and speed off.

You may be wondering how I got here. 

My name is Rashad Thaddeus Tanjutco Razón. I go by Ray for the sake of people not having to say all that. Before the monsters, there were wars. In 2028, the United States showed back up in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan & Pakistan. The invasion lasted until, well, the monsters showed up. 

Their were two fronts, "The Water Wars" in Pakistan, and "Operation Middle Earth" in Iraq, Iran & Afghanistan. All over the word ever since the start of WW3, resources have been dwindling. Water, oil, steel, all of it- was used to fend off from enemies. I mean all of the world, Africa's population population dropped from 1.7 billion, to 900,000,000 over the years, countries were in ruin, burned to the ground. 

Water was gone, taken by enemies or companies, the resources of the DRC were useless after it was leveled in the wars. South America was still dealing with Civil wars, the already resource rich areas had been mowed down even before the wars. Europe was rolled over by the Russians, France & Norway being almost the only untouched nations. 

Asia was, completely dead, from the American & Russian invasions, there was nothing left. Australia is even somehow more dry than it was, it's almost unlivable to do the coal use. I was in the Philippians when these wars broke out, my country was invaded by Indonesia and China, with "help" from the United States. I escaped, illegally, all transportation between countries were banned during war crime for "safety" reasons. Even between allies.
