"my knuckles were bruised like violets

sucker punching walls, cursed you as I sleep-talked."

Day 29.

One more day until it marks a month. It's nearing the end of September and slowly approaching October; where crimson-colored leaves and hues of sunset orange litter the busy streets of Salt Lake City. Wafts of pumpkin spice and cinnamon fill the air of the city and for a moment, Chaeyoung appreciates the fact that she isn't back in Seoul where it was snowing or simply freezing.

"Chaeng, I have sent your designs and was informed to expect the final products within the next two weeks." Lisa says as she places the manila folder holding the important files inside on the black modern desk.

"I appreciate it, Lisa." Chaeyoung sends her a small smile, as she grabs the folder and places it neatly on top of a stack of files near her.

"So...a bunch of us will be going out tonight for dinner. Would you like to tag along?" Lisa offers, but Chaeyoung shakes her head. She hasn't been up to any fun for the past twenty-nine days.

"Well, I will text you the time and address if you change your mind." Lisa softly squeezes her left shoulder as Chaeyoung nods but both knew she wasn't going to.

When Lisa leaves the office, Chaeyoung sighs as her gaze drifts to the view of the whole SLC landscape. The sun is slowly setting and Chaeyoung lets out a breath, as she anticipates the dark night. She has grown to actually love it.

For the past few weeks, she has just been sitting in her office working way past her work hours. She'd admire the sky transitioning to the pink-orange shade. Her overused brain would conjure new images for designs while her consciousness brings up lingering thoughts of the dark haired boy she loved so much.

How is he right now?

Is he happier now?

Is he with her?

"Kook, how long have you been staring at that photo?" Jimin sighs as he watches his heartbroken friend grip onto a small framed picture of a black haired beauty. His teary eyes have been staring at his former lover for so long, it is like his eyes could only look at her and nothing else. The boys went to Jungkook's mansion to pick him up for a photoshoot but he was nowhere near ready. He was wrapped in his blanket with the picture frame tightly grasped in his hands. It wasn't until Taehyung jumped on the bed and Jin forced the picture out of Jungkook's strong hold did he finally get up. And even so, it was only to snatch the picture right back.

"I just miss her so much." His voice cracks as a tear escapes his red rimmed eyes. It has been twenty-nine days. Twenty-nine days since he last heard her voice directed to him, held her in his arms, and felt the gentle graze of her innocent touch. It has almost been an entire month without her presence and it was about to drive him insane.

"Jungkook, I know what you are going through is tough, but you can't be like this for the rest of your life." Namjoon tries to console him.

"He is right...she'll come back." Taehyung musters a smile even though everyone in that room knew that wasn't quite true.

"Yeah," Jungkook sniffles, "I guess you're right." He gently places the frame back onto the desk and stands up.

"Alrighty, Kook. Get dressed, we have a photoshoot in 20 minutes." J-Hope pats him on the back and pushes him towards his closet.

"I feel sorry for the poor makeup artist that has to cover all of that up." Yoongi sighs as he looks at his friend's puffy forlorn face.

Despite having layers under his coat, Jungkook is still cold. He can never be warm, especially when she isn't in his life.

Seoul is so fucking cold.

And as he stares out at the landscape, lingering thoughts of Chaeyoung appear.

Does she miss him just as much as he misses her?

Is she cold? She doesn't really like the cold, so she would be miserable if she was here.

What is she up to right now?
