"my hand was the one
you reached for"
Chaeyoung sighs as she sloppily places an X on her already filled-up calendar. She was still so tired from barely sleeping a wink.
Day 50.
"Chaeng," a deep male voice startles the sleepy dark haired woman, "are you ready for work?"
She nearly drops her marker in surprise and places her unoccupied hand over her heart. "Geez, you nearly gave me a heart attack."
Nam Joo-hyuk has been her best friend, aside from Lisa, since college. He begged to work under her because he claimed that working with her gave him the motivation to eventually venture off into the fashion world and make a name for himself. He first needed experience in dealing with clients and time demanded by this field. Lisa owns a dance academy where she aspires to help passionate children in love with the art blossom into expertly trained dancers, being Chaeyoung's assistant is a side hustle but she's the best assistant Chaeyoung has ever had, her only assistant.
"Whoops." The handsome man smiles adorably at her, as he intentionally messes with her hair even more, knowing that would agitate her.
"I'm going to murder you." Chaeyoung sleepily glared daggers at him although everyone knew she'd never go through with it. Joo-hyuk and Lisa were with her even before she entered the fashion industry; they were both her biggest supporters and the best people to live on this earth. She loved them both the minute she was exposed to their charismatic personalities.
They were always there for each other.
Joo-hyuk and Lisa were the ones sitting on Chaeyoung's cold office tiled floors, listening to her cry and going through many tissues to blow her nose. They brought her more tissue boxes, iced lattes, and got her favorite snacks and meals without her ever asking them to do any of that.
"Where are my keys?" Chaeyoung mumbles after leaving her room. She had finally put herself together, wearing a nude pink suit for work and some white pointed toe heels, ready for whatever is going to be thrown at her.
"Hurry, Chaengie! We are going to be late. Put a pep in your step, will you?" Lisa yells out, as she sticks her head out of the car window. Chaeyoung simply just ignores her.
"Cause I'm hard to love, find it hard to trust," Lisa sings as she rolls down the car window and ushers for the pair to hurry up. Chaeyoung looks at her watch and rolls her eyes at her impatient best friend, they are pretty damn early. Nonetheless, they pick up their pace and buckle themselves into the car.
Lisa drums the steering wheel in thought as she navigates her car through the freeway. "Are you going to start on preparations for the upcoming fashion festival in Salt Lake?" Chaeyoung groans, she completely forgot about that.
"Shit, it is soon." Chaeyoung stresses, tugging on random pieces of her dark locks out of frustration.
"Yup, you still need to approve designs, find models, do rehearsals, and find a date to accompany you that night." Joo-hyuk looks at his overworked and emotionally distraught best friend, who worked harder than most girls her age usually did.
"Great." Chaeyoung loudly exhales.
"You'll be fine." Lisa throws her a quick smile in an attempt to calm the stressed-out designer down.
"Tha-" Chaeyoung was interrupted by a loud ding from Joo-hyuk's phone.
"Oh, speaking of finding you models, I got a text about potential models." Joo-hyuk hums as he lifts his phone up and brings it closer to her face.
