That day while I was at school our pack was attacked, that breakfast was the last time I ever saw my dad...

It's been almost 6 years since that horrible day. I haven't been the same since. I don't go out to parties, I don't throw parties, I don't even celebrate my birthday anymore. My mom tried to get me to celebrate my birthday, up until 2 years ago. Losing your mate has an impact on you and not many can go years with out their mate after they meet. My mom was trying to not show her pain, although I did end up seeing it, but 2 years ago she ended up getting a lot sicker. She was always tired, unmotivated, sad, etc. She is still breathing today, she moves although not a lot. It is clear that this is the worst part of her life and that she might not live much longer. What is even worse is she is only 39 years old.

She did try to celebrate my birthday. She tried the year after the horrible birthday, ended in me crying about my dad. She tried last year, ended in me hiding in my room. She even tried about 3 years ago, that day I didn't leave my room. (I didn't need to leave because my room was huge, it had an en suite bathroom, a mini fridge, and a tv. Basically a whole house.)

Some people say I am exaggerating about not celebrating my 'big day', but in all fairness, they probably haven't had anything traumatic happen on their birthday.

Today is my first day at a new school. Mom thought that moving packs and moving schools would get my mind off my late father, I told her it wouldn't be a good idea now that she is sick but she insisted. We moved to the moon-shadow pack just a week ago, their alpha agreed because they have an alliance with my original pack, the dark-blood pack. Funny thing about the moon-shadow pack is the Luna, alphas mate, Rosie, was my moms best friend, they lost touch when Rosie found the current alpha of the moon-shadow pack, although the only thing mom knew at the time was that her mate was an alpha. They have been reconnecting a bit, Rosie came over to say hi to the new pack members and that's how they remembered each other.

Getting ready for first day at the new school is the worst, waking up early, and having to go to a public school. This school is between the moon-shadow pack territory and the liquid-hound pack territory but it's not rogue territory, so i would go to school with both packs. I took a quick shower, taking five minutes to just relax under the hot water as it splashes on my tan skin, I put a light blue crop top, and dark grey-blue sweats. I tied my strawberry blonde hair into a messy bun, and put a little mascara, and lip gloss on. By the time I got everything done and was ready to go it was 7:30. 'I have just enough time to eat a little bit of food before having to be there at 8' I thought. Walking out of my room I saw my mom sitting on the couch in the living room. She was looking at a picture of us all together as a family, the picture was taken on my moms 25th birthday as a present.

"Imogen, remember this?" She asked in a wavy voice. It was clear she had been crying.

"Yeah." I said quietly. "Yeah, I remember." This time I was louder.

"It was my 25th birthday, you and your dad knew I wanted a family photo to hang on the wall or to put on a fire place. Your dad blindfolded me, and you led me to the car. It was the best birthday I ever had." She said, little tear drops coming out of the corner of her eyes. "Well, have fun at school dear." She got up, pointed at the clock that now flashed 7:45. She slowly limped towards me, kissed my forehead and heading into the hall way. I walked into the kitchen grabbed a banana and walked to the garage. We still had our blue Ford Fusion Energi, but we don't use it. I got into my red Mazda3, started it, opened our garage door, and drove away.

On the way to school I ate the banana, and stopped to get a coffee. I stopped at Starbucks and ordered a Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso, I wanted to try something new. By the time I got to the school the clock on my phone stated 7:50.

The lot was already really full. Cars taking up almost every spot in the front of the school. The only spots near the front door was the handicap spots and well I don't have handicap. I had to park about 7 rows back, making a mental note to myself that I should leave and get here early. I walk inside the school looking around. I saw kids that were scrawny, I saw kids that were buff, I saw werewolves that screamed power. It was then that I noticed that there were werewolves, humans, and witches all sharing this school. The office was right inside the doors so I didn't have to go far to get my schedule. I walk into the office. It was a small room with black chairs, a long desk with a small skinny pale woman behind it. She looked up at me and gave me a sweet smile.

"Hi" her cheery voice rang in my ears. "How can I help you?" She asked.

"I'm Imogen Coland, I'm a new student." I said quietly.

"What was that darlin?" She asked.

"I'm Imogen Coland, I'm a new student." I said louder, just barley louder but she seemed to hear it.

"Ok deary..." she starts typing and clicking on her computer. "All right it is printing." She said as she got up. She slowly walked into another room connected to the small room we were in. About a minute later she came out with three pieces of paper. I looked at them. One was my schedule, one was a map of the school, and the last was a paper that had the name and room numbers along with the hallway on it.

Schedule

1st class- history- Mr. Hepts
2nd class- German 1- Mrs. Jordan
3rd class- algebra- Ms. Andy
4th class- English- Mr. Graf
5th class- FREE PERIOD
LUNCH
6th class- chemistry- Professor Jabbens
7th class-
End school

I look at the map next. It showed two floors. It looked like all the same types of classes were grouped together. Science with science, math with math, etc. I went looking for my history class; Mr. Hepts, rm 203, history hallway. The 3rd price paper had on it. I looked back at the map. The bell rang as I was looking at the map. 'Stairs. Stairs. Where are the stairs.' I thought to myself. The map was a little hard to read as the office was not marked down on the paper. Once I found the stairs I started climbing them. The walk wasn't long, maybe about 3-4 minutes from the office with getting turned around a little. I looked at the door. Rm 203: Mr. Hepts. The panel on the right of the door said. I knocked on the door. A second later an old man with black hair opened the door. I could tell that he was a human.

"And who are you?" He asked in a mean tone. He looked as though he could care less about my answer.

"Uh- I'm Imogen Coland." I said in a small voice.

"Speak up, girl." He said. "I'm hard of hearing."

"I'm uh- I'm Imogen Coland." I said louder.

"Ahh the new student." He paused then said "all students are to be in class by the bell, even new students."

"I'm sorry sir." I said. 'What an asswhole' I thought. He moved aside and let me enter.

"This is Imogen. She is a new student treat her well." He turned to me "you can sit next to Daniel. Daniel raise your hand." An brunette boy raised his hand. He wore glasses and had a weird buzz cut. I could tell he wasn't a werewolf but he wasn't a human either. He must be a warlock. I sat next to him and Mr. Hepts started his lesson, or we'll continued it until I knocked on the door.
