Terms
Caster - a being who can utilize magic in it's various forms

Catalyst - a tool used by casters to channel mana and cast magic

Sigil - more commonly called a magic circle, it appears regardless of what type of magic is cast, while it has a general form each spell has a unique sigil

Types of Casters
Wizard/Witch - a caster that uses magic that challenges the natural order of the world, the rarest type of caster since the process of becoming a true wizard or witch could leave the being crippled or dead

Sorcerer/Sorceress - a caster that makes a pact with a being from another realm to utilize unique and powerful magic

Summoner - a caster that makes contracts with beings from the same realm and are able to summon them to do their bidding, however the terms of the contract are dependent on the power and intelligence of the being the Summoner is making the contract with

Sage - a caster that draws power from the natural mana around themselves, very reclusive since areas with strong mana are rare

Magician - a caster that specializes in being able to change the properties of magic to create more flexible and diverse spells

Mage - the most common type of caster, they focus on mana control and making magic easier to use through different types of casting

Types of Catalysts
Staff - the most common catalyst that is usually a sturdy stick with a mana crystal embedded into it

Stave/Glaive - a type of staff that has a more versatile function as a weapon, the mana crystal is usually near where the user places their hands and is much smaller than the one in a staff

Wand - a smaller more portable catalyst that is typically made from a magic conduit core (like a unicorn hair) with a casing around it

Rune Fist - a type of gauntlet catalyst that replaces the mana crystals or magic conduit cores for runes that are used to channel mana, popular since they can be made from almost any type of material including leather

Spell-blade - a catalyst that takes the form of a sword or knife, not popular since it lacks any type of mana channeling agent due to the focus on close combat however

Unique Catalysts - catalysts that do not fall under any of the common categories and are usually made specifically for one person to use

Spell Grades (Lowest to Highest)
Low - Grade 1 to 3

Mid - Grade 4 to 8

High - Grade 9 to 14

Superior - Grade 15 to 20

Rook - Grade 21 to 30

Saint - Grade 31 to 50

Extreme - Grade 51 to 80

Ultimate - Grade 81 to 100

Types of Casting
Chanting - using spoken words to conjure a spell

Writing - writing out a chant using mana to conjure a spell

Glyph Casting - Preparing a sigil on something and then channeling mana into the sigil to use the spell

Formulaic Casting - building a sigil by controlling mana and then using the sigil to cast a spell

Instant Casting - casting a spell by calling forth a prebuilt sigil in your mind, most people shout the name of the spell to help them visualize the sigil but it is not nessecary to do so
