It was Monday morning and the sunlight beamed through my eyelids. Groggily waking up I rubbed the crust out from my eyes. "Damn sun is bright..." The morning went by fast as before I knew it, I was already aboard the buss. Amy waved me down and I went to the seat she was in. Before I had a chance to ask how she was, Amy started the conversation.

"So, I came out to my parents this morning and it turns out my great grandmother was a lesbian, on my mom's side of the family." She smiled deeply as I hugged and congratulated her on overcoming a fear of her's. "And in the process of the mess last night, I took it upon myself to write a letter of the LGBT community. I figured it might be insightful to others."

As happy as I was for Amy, I thought a letter was a bit overboard. I couldn't stop her, nor was I going to. Finally, we had arrived at school and had our homerooms finished with taking attendance. Amy and I both had gym for first period and it was there that she'd read her letter.

"Alright everyone, gather on the bleachers!" Coach Cameron blew his whistle as everyone scrambled to where they were told. "Amy here has something to tell the class?" The coach raised an eyebrow as she nodded to him and cleared her throat.

"Yes, I would like to shed some insight on everyone today." I shook my head and covered my face as I knew she was doing a bad idea. But it was too late for her to turn back, she had started to speak to everyone.

"The LGBT community is an ever-evolving and intricate mosaic of identities, experiences, and lifestyles. From the brave individuals who come out as transgender to those living their life openly as lesbian or gay, these groups have persevered in a society that has been historically hostile towards them. Despite facing discrimination, harassment, and even violence, many members of this vibrant community continue to thrive and fight for equal rights. It is important to recognize that being part of the LGBTQ+ spectrum isn't simply limited to being one sexual orientation-there are countless gender identifications, all deserving of respect and understanding. We must also remember that LGBTQ+ individuals exist within every ethnic, racial, religious, and socio-economic group, making it paramount that we prioritize intersectionality when considering their needs and concerns. The courage of this diverse community should be celebrated rather than feared; by educating ourselves on their struggles and successes, we can create a world where all genders are embraced for who they are. That is why I am proud to announce, I'm lesbian."

As soon as Amy had finished, the gym was completely in silence and awe.
