"am i really a fool in your eyes hyung?" dae-hyun asked, upset. 

dae-hyun hadn't meant to hear anything but his call had ended short with some network difficulties from the other party. he heard tense whispers and small sniffles from the kitchen and he found it odd since only taehyun was there. 

i wonder what taehyun thinks of beomgyu hyung. 

right as he was about to turn the corner, his eyes fall upon the reflection in the kitchen mirror on the far corner, a distorted reflection of two males standing eye visible. his fists had clenched at his sides without him even realising. 

don't cry. 

he couldn't believe their words. beomgyu's words hurt, like almost a knife stabbing his heart but the heartache and longing written on taehyun's face hurt him even more. 

dae-hyun couldn't believe his own brother decided to once again sacrifice himself for his happiness. it's always been like that. dae-hyun had always known taehyun took it upon himself to make him happy. 

since they were younger, their father had always been dissatisfied with dae-hyun. he could remember those words being uttered to his thirteen year old emotional self by his heartless dad. 

"you could never compare to taehyun." 

that was also the first time his dad had raised his hand on him. since then it occurred often but one day taehyun had found out and started taking hits in place of him. two years did taehyun continuously take the physical abuse whenever their father deemed dae-hyun had fucked up. 

dae-hyun was deprived of fatherly love and constantly dealt with his mother's greed. his mother always treated taehyun like shit and made his life a living hell. she was jealous of taehyun, even though she was ceo kang jonghyun's wife she hadn't gotten a single share in kang pharmaceuticals while a fourteen year old was a fifteen percent shareholder. 

dae-hyun only had his brother. they were half-brothers but taehyun never blamed him for anything he had faced when he had all the rights to. instead, taehyun tutored him with schoolwork and always supported him with his hobbies. taehyun was more of a parent to him than his parents have ever been in his entire life. 

dae-hyun willed himself not to cry. "i can't believe i was hurting you hyung..." 

taehyun quickly replied, "never dae. you didn't know. it isn't your fault." 

it's my turn to sacrifice for you hyung. you've been hurt enough in this lifetime. 

"we'll figure it out. this time let me help you hyung," dae-hyun smiled. 

taehyun pulled dae-hyun into a bone-crushing hug while beomgyu looked at the pair of brothers with a fond smile. 

"i love you," beomgyu mouthed. 

taehyun's eyes crinkled, he mouthed back, "i love you too." 

both of them smiled, their eyes shining brightly.
