An Octaven Christmas Story

Last Christmas

Raven hated Christmas, ever since her ex-boyfriend Finn shattered her heart into a thousand pieces. Last Christmas she had prepared the most spectacular proposal for her boyfriend, it would be one for the history books, and bystanders would stop and cheer and forever remember that couple who got engaged on Christmas morning. And they did, the bystanders cheered,  the lights on the Christmas tree twinkled, and the snow glowed. The next day, Raven went down to flous, the shop Finn worked in to surprise her, but instead, Raven saw the love of her life without his ring, getting it on, in the bathroom at the back of the store with some blonde girl.

Raven had spent most of December moping around her undecorated apartment until she saw Finn post on her story with his new fiance together in Paris. Raven decided she wouldn't let Finn ruin her Christmas, the holiday that used to be her favorite. She got up off her sofa and put her coat on, Raven was starting to forget about the heartbreak caused by Finn, that was until she saw a happy couple under the same tree she had proposed last year. Just as Raven was about to go home a group of kids ran past her knocking her into the frozen pond. Well at least she felt alive?  not for long though, that water was below freezing and Raven couldn't move, partially from shock but mainly because the water was too cold. Everything went slow, she could hear muffled voices from outside of the pond until suddenly there was a loud splash. Next thing she knew she was in the arms of some girl, Raven looked up to see a beautiful brunette girl, her hair soaking wet, the water dripping down her cheeks, and snow slowly landing atop her hair. Raven then looked around to see everyone staring. at the 2 girls, some in awe and some in complete shock. Suddenly Raven was back in reality and she jumped up off the girl and began to run off completely embarrassed by what just happened. She hid in some alley around the corner until the same girl that had rescued her ran after her.  "Hey, no. thank you?"  she joked.

 Raven looked at her as if she was crazy, "why the hell would you jump in there after me? it could have killed you!" 

"It could have killed YOU!" she replied

"Well, I would have been fine, now. you're cold and wet too" Raven said shivering as the adrenaline wore off.

"Octavia" 

"What?"  Raven said confused looking at the girl

"I'm Octavia, who are you?"

'R-Raven..I'm Raven." Raven hesitantly said back

"nice to meet you, Raven," the girl said smiling 

"why are you smiling? we could have died"Raven said looking at the girl confused

"because we didn't, and because I've always wanted an excuse to jump into that pond.. even if it's in the middle of winter to heroically save a hot girl"

"well congratulations, dream come true" Raven said still shivering

"how far away do you live?" Octavia asked

"what? I'm not telling you"

"I just saved your life, do you really think I'd be a risk to you?"

"that's beside the point"

"oh really?  well then I guess I'll just leave you here to freeze and go to my nice warm apartment alone" Octavia said pointing to a warmly lit up tower across the street

Raven followed her finger and rolled her eyes and the girl began to walk off, "wait.."

Octavia spun her head around swiftly towards the girl, "can I come with you?" Raven said reluctantly 

Octavia smiled and held her hand out, Raven got up and took the girl's soft, cold, numb hand. before she knew it she was inside. Octavia's apartment decorated from top to bottom with Christmas decorations and sparkling lights. Raven remembered when she used to decorate her apartment just like this with Finn listening to Christmas music together. Octavia looked at her and handed her a towel and some fresh clothes, "I figure you're going to want to shower and change out of your wet clothes, there's a bathroom just next to my room, you can use that" Octavia said pointing over to it.
