New year

Kou's POV:

We we're all gathered here in my backyard chitchatting, drinking, and eating some snacks as we wait for the fireworks and of course for the countdown for new year. All of my friends are here, including him.

Mitsuba Sousuke.

His my best friend yet needless to say I have a huge crush on him. Everyone knows, except him. Its either his blind, super dense and stupid to see it or its either he doesn't feel the same way to care or notice. I never confessed, scared to throw away our friendship. But Yashiro and Amane and even my brother supported me and encouraged me to confess and I took it. I planned on confessing today. Before the countdown.

So now I was fiddling with my fingers, it was 11:45 and Yashiro and Amane left for me to confess or was it either they just want alone time to their selves too. Those two started dating three months ago and I suppose its their first New year together as a couple.

Anyways, where was I again? Right me fiddling with my fingers. It was 11:46 now and I sat alone outside thinking whether or not I should confess or chicken out.

Worse thing he could say is no. But what if he says he doesn't feel the same way and I ruined our friendship and he doesn't want to be friends ever again and im a pervert. OR THE WORSE THING IS THAT HE MIGHT BE HOMOPHOBIC! Does he even know im bi!??

I sighed as I think about all these thoughts. I looked down, looking defeated. Then a voice was heard so close to my ear it made my heart race knowing who that voice belonged to.

"Why so sad, Minamoto kun?" I turned around, speak of the devil.

"H-hey Mistuba" I waved and he raised a brow. "Whatchu stuttering for?" He sat beside me our fingers almost touching. "N-nothing, its just cold I guess" I said looking away but secretly looking at him from the corner of my eye. "If your cold then get inside you dumbass" he said as he crossed his arms. "On second thought it doesn't seem cold now" I said chuckling. "That's a fast change of mood" was all he could say before silence took over the atmosphere.

Time check 11:50, 10 minutes. Come on Kou! Just say it! Worse thing he could say is- No! Don't think about what he would say. Just tell him what you feel!

I took a deep breath and called his name. He looked at me as my cheeks began to grow pink. "What is it?"

"Mitsuba..I uhm..whatifItoldyouthatimbiandinlovewithyouhowwouldyoureact?"

I breathe heavily as my cheeks turned red.

"Huh?" Was all he could reply with a very confused look.

"Kou do I look like a robot to you?? I can't understand what you just said! Speak clearly you lame as-"

"I said 'how would you react if I told you im in love with you'!!" I looked at him straight into his pink gorgeous eyes. His eyes widened and a blush grew on his face. My heart was beating fast, my cheeks were starting to burn, and my hands began to sweat even more.

"I..I would be disappointed..."

Hearing him say that made my heart drop. Blood drained from my face and I looked down embarrassed and ashamed. "oh" was all I could reply.

I feel tears forming and my heart aching, suddenly he grabbed my hand and we both looked at each other's eyes. "If I told you im in love with you, how would you react?" He asked and I was confused. I decided to tell him how I really feel, I can't keep secrets like this, It'll only make my heart ache.

"If you told me you love me..I would be the happiest version of myself and I would do anything to make you happy.. because..I love you, Mitsuba"

I said my eyes shining full of love for him and my heart beating, knowing he would be disappointed. His eyes widened at my answer. "Even if its just a "what if"" I finally looked down. I could see his hands were clenched and I held his hands with mine. His hands were warm and so was mine.

"Can we at least still be fr-mwmh" before I could finish he crashed his lips to mine.

I closed my eyes, enjoying the kiss I share with his soft lips. He pulled away and I opened my eyes seeing his slowly opening.

His cheeks were in deep shade of red and I knew so was mine. I smiled and so did he.

"I love you too, Kou" he said tightening his grasp on my hands. I was suddenly confused. "Then why did you say you'd be disappointed?" I asked him.

"Because you just said "what if" and I didn't knew it was a confession..and its true anyways if you just said "what if you were in love with me" and it wasn't true because its a "what if" then I'd surely be disappointed.." he said as he looked away a bit embarrassed.

"Oh mitsuba, you idiot. Have you not seen every movies about the "what ifs"??" I asked laughing. He reddened and crossed his arms. "S-shut up" was all he could say.

Then out of nowhere Amane yelled at us and said, "hey you two time check its 11:58 lets all gather outside and watch the fireworks!!" Yashiro then held Amane by his shoulder and added "and lets not forget to count the remaining seconds to struck midnight!"

Everyone then came out and me and Mitsuba stood up. Just then Amane grabbed me and whispered into my ear. "So, how'd it go? Did you do it or did you chicken out?" I smiled at him and proudly said, "I did it and it went well" he smiled and let go of me and held Yashiro senpai's hand and walked off.

"What was that about?" Asked Mistuba. "Oh nothing" I said. "C'mon lets go" I said and grabbed his hand walking off to where the others were.

"Time check everyone 11:59!" Said Akane san.

60,59,58,57,56,55,54,53,52,51,50,49...

Seconds passed and we were all counting.

"10!"

"9!"

"8!"

"7!"

"6!"

"I'm glad you confessed, Kou"

He said.

"5!"

"I'm glad you love me back, Mitsu"

"4!"

"3!

He turned to me and so did I.

"2"

He looked at me lovingly and grinned cutely.

"1!"

As if on cue we kissed as the fireworks blast and there was nothing more I could look at than him. He pulled apart and he suggested to look at the fireworks but I just couldn't stop looking at him.

"Jeez dumbass, I know im cute but you don't have to look at me for almost every 3 seconds" I just chuckled. "Your just to adorable to not get look at" I said and kissed him in the forehead.

"Hmph! Stupid lame ass earring!" He said and I just laughed.

I just knew that this year will be the happiest for me since I'll be spending it with Mitsuba more and the thought of it put a smile into my face.
