Yes, this is a new story. I wrote this a while ago. I thought that I might make it an official story. I will continue writing Trust Issues. I also got a laptop, so I can write stories much easier. I was originally writing them on my phone, which is not my preferred device to write on.

She felt the wind in her hair, her wings, in each individual feather. The air was chilly, but not cold, because it was early morning. There were massive trees here, at this old school for those who were lucky enough to get an education.
She, Lily Roseland, was a lucky person. She got a good education, which was difficult with the place she lived in. This school had dorms all across the campus and it allowed her to fly around every once in a while. The school wasn't necessarily strict, but it didn't really let you be completely free.
This school that she was going to be at was a school for rich kids and she wasn't a rich kid. She was an orphan. But that's fine, you don't to be rich to be cool, right? She couldn't let anyone know that she was poor and had no parents or else she would most likely get bullied.
Lily hated it, absolutely despised it, when people were mean to other people because they didn't have as much as everybody else. It made her angry and puff up her feathers, which meant that she had to preen them again, and she didn't really enjoy preening her feathers.
After she got done with her quick flight through the trees, she landed at the entrance of the building that held her dorm. She walked in and went to her dorm room, unlocking it with a key that she was given. It was the beginning of the school year, and she just moved her stuff into her room. She also didn't know her roommates yet, but hopefully they would be nice and become friends with her.
Lily chose the bed closest to the window. Her dorm was on the third floor of the building, so it felt like she was up in a tree. Before, at the orphanage, there was two floors, but not many windows or good beds next to window. She had to deal with the instinct to nest somewhere high up. There was a bunkbed, so that did help with her instincts, but it was never the same as next to a window or actually being up in a tree.
She made sure to bring a bunch of blankets so she could create a little mini fort that would resemble a nest. She knew that all of her thoughts were crazy right now, due to her just barely moving and all of her instincts acting up. She was a fidgety and was chirping like crazy.
While she was exploring campus for the first time, she saw a couple other hybrid, some like her with wings and other with ears and tails. She was glad that she wasn't the only one who had animal feature.
She was just sitting on her bed, in the circle of pillows and blankets, lost in her thoughts, that she didn't notice the person walking into the room. Lily finally stopped daydreaming and looked up to see a person, taller than her, with mid-length brown hair, light tan skin, dog ears, a dog tail, and a curious look on their face. So, this was one of her new roommates.
"Hey. I'm, uh, Lily Roseland." She stood up from her bed and walked towards her roommate, hand out to shake their hand, "Sorry, I, uh, already chose a bed."
The other person took her hand, "Hello! I'm Riley!" There was a smile on their face, ''I'm glad you chose the window bed, I don't really like heights." They laughed a bit awkwardly. Now that Lily was up close to them, she could see that they had a bunch of freckles across their nose and cheeks. There was a slight blush on their face.
"Oh, that's good," Lily chuckled, "Do you need help with your bags?"
"Yeah, sure! I would appreciate that." They turned away towards the door and Lily followed them. She was glad that one of her new roommates was nice.
They both went outside of their dorm room to grab Riley's bag when they saw another person, a short man with dark tan skin, short hair, and a worried look on his face. He was about Lily's height maybe taller, so maybe around 5'6. From what Lily saw, he was human, no animal parts in sight.
Lily continued to pick up Riley's stiff when the man stopped in front of the two of them and said, "Is this room 346?"
Riley looked back at the opened door's number and nodded. The man sighed with relief and continued to talk.
"I'm Max Welshin, is this your dorm room too?"
"Yup" Lily chirped, as she stared waling into the room with one of Riley's bags. She set it down right next to their bed and went back to plop down on her own bed.
"Sorry, we kind of already picked our beds," said Riley.
"Bah," Max said as he set his bags down on his bed, "I don't really care where I sleep. I don't like the big window anyway."
Lily was glad that she didn't have to fight someone to sleep by the window. She was also glad that both of her roommates were nice. Maybe all three of them could be good friends.
After a little bit of getting to know her roommates, Lily began to feel hungry. They all decided that they should go to lunch together. Lily realized that she didn't have much money, but she could probably find a job.
They went to lunch at a small restaurant off of campus. They had really good sandwiches and coffee. There was also a sign outside that said, "Now Hiring". Maybe she could get a job here.
After lunch, they had to go to a welcoming for their school, like an assembly. They quickly found a seat in the middle and sat there. They weren't late, but there were a couple hundred people there in the front seats, waiting.
They sat there for about ten minutes before the actual welcoming began. It lasted for about an hour, the directors and teachers at the school introducing themselves and talking about the school's rules.
After they got back from eating in the cafeteria, they split up. Max went to hang out with his other friends on campus and Riley went to the library to find some books to read. Lily went back to the dorm room and decided to lay down.
She was thinking about her life when she lived in the orphanage as a little girl. She had been left there with a note telling the people who ran the orphanage about her family. She belonged to a young couple who had died in a car wreck, and she had no other family or friends to go to. Lily wished that she got to know her parents better before they died. Or maybe it was better that they died before she felt too attached to them. Lily didn't know which was better.
As her thoughts continued to pass along, she quietly drifted to sleep, not waiting for her roommates.
...
When she woke up, it was dark outside. Lily looked at her phone and it said that it was 2:00 am. She groaned and laid back down. She was about the go back asleep when she heard someone moving in their sleep and mumbling something. Lily sat up and saw that all of the movement coming from Max's bed. She stood up and creeped towards him. As she got closer, she saw that he was breathing heavily.
Lily bent over and shook Max gently. It took a couple of shakes, each one getting faster and stronger, to wake him up.
He was shaking and he was covered in sweat. He shot up from where he was laying. Max looked up at her, fear in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" She was worried about him, even though she hadn't even known him for a full day. It's probably my instincts or something. She always blamed her instincts for any weird behavior that she showed. Max continued looking up at her, the expression in his eyes slowly changing from fear to calmness. He shakily nodded his head. "Y-yeah. It was just a nightmare."
His breathing was still of a little bit, but Lily could tell that he was okay.
"Do you want to talk about it. Sometime. Talking about my dreams helps me."
"N-no, I'm good, but thanks." Max laid back down.
Lily nodded her head and went back to her bed. It didn't take her a long time to go back to sleep. She was pretty tired from waking up early to fly.
The rest of the night was peaceful.
