16. pinky promise

the day after the confrontation in the library, xavier didn't show up to any classes.  wednesday didn't want to admit it, but she was worried. unfortunately, ivory was even more worried.

she walked up to bianca. "you weren't being kind to xavier yesterday and now he's not responding to my texts and is skipping class. what did you do?" this made bianca mad. "i didn't do anything. you need to stop blaming others for things that are out of your control." ivory glared at her and stomped away to her seat.

"does anyone know where xavier is?" mrs. venus asked. no answer.

he was, in fact, ignoring ivory's texts on purpose. he couldn't talk to her all the time, not when it was hurting wednesday.

but, he eventually gave in.

when xavier texted back, ivory was in class and her phone pinged. mrs. venus stole it as soon as the girl began typing her fingers on the little screen.

"texting mr. thorpe when he's skipping class unexcused, how demoting." she handed the phone back to her student. "put it away now or i take it away for the rest of the day and you don't get it back until lights out."

wednesday felt her cheeks flush with anger. she had said all that yesterday to xavier for him to feel absolutely no remorse. pathetic. so this is what love does to you she thought to herself.

after class, enid went to confront xavier. she knew he didn't have the gut to leave nevermore.

xavier heard a knock from his door. "come in," he called wearily from his bed. a blonde with bright green eyes and anger fuming throughout her body walked in. "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO WEDNESDAY? SHE TELLS YOU YOU HURT HER AND YOU GO TEXT THE GIRL DURING CLASS WHILE YOU'RE SKIPPING FROM EMBARASSMENT?! I AM GOING TO MURDER YOU, XAVIER!" she shouted.
ajax walked in to the chaos and saw his fuming girlfriend. "enid, whoa. what's going on?" she turned, still fuming with rage. "YOUR ROOMMATE BROKE MY BEST FRIEND'S HEART AND IS BEING A TOTAL DICKHEAD ABOUT IT!"

ajax paled, staring at xavier. "the fuck up you were talking about yesterday was wednesday?" enid's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL MY BEST FRIEND?!"

xavier got out of his bed, holding his hand up innocently. "enid, it's not what you think! i texted ivory back once and that's it! and i told ajax yesterday that i told someone i loved them and then abandoned them.... i.. i never meant to hurt her. i just want her back." he murmured as his voice broke.

enid slowly began to calm down, but still wanted answers. "then why did ivory get in trouble with mrs. venus for texting with you in botanical sciences?" she gritted through her teeth. xavier raised an eyebrow. "oh, damn. i didn't know that happened. she texted me like five times today and it was kinda excessive so i finally responded."

enid breathed out long heavy breaths. "well, wednesday is fucking heart broken. but i know she has a pure heart because she still cares about you. you better fucking fix this, xavier. or i will kill you myself." she said and then left the room.

xavier blinked, trying to collect his thoughts. "shit," he murmured to himself. after classes finished for the day, he was going to go find wednesday.
he was going to make things right.

after classes had finished, before heading to the hummers club, wednesday went to set down her bag in her dorm, and to her surprise, xavier was there.

she ignored his presence... until he walked up to her. "wednesday, can we talk? please?" he asked, voice breaking. her eyes flickered from her closet to the door. "not right now, xavier. i have somewhere to be." xavier followed her to her closet. "really? where do you have to be?" he asked angrily. wednesday found him to be rather annoying. "hummers club. if you stay here, i promise i'll talk to you after."
xavier touched her shoulder, which made her turn to him. their eyes met and wednesday could see the fear evidently, seeping deeper and deeper into his soul. "promise?" he asked. "promise," she confirmed.

xavier held up his pinky and wednesday looked at him in confusion. he chuckled lightly. "a pinky promise. it's easy but unbreakable. just hook your pinky around mine." she did as he said and then went to change into her bee gear. "see you after hummers club," xavier called after her.

while wednesday was at hummers club, all she could think about was xavier. he wanted her still. wednesday found it rather relieving, the same feeling she felt being in an electric chair.

after club, wednesday went back to her dorm. xavier had bought her flowers and something felt familiar. she couldn't pinpoint what it was at first but then did instantly.

the evil bats were back in her stomach, swarming, this time worse than ever. flutter flutter. flutter flutter.

"xavier," wednesday said, acknowledging him. he dragged her over to her bed and sat down next to her. he handed her the flowers, black siberian iris roots. "these are for you."

wednesday held the flowers in her hands. "thank you." xavier took the flowers back out of her hands and set them on her desk next to her typewriter.

"wednesday, i'm so sorry for hurting you. i was stupid and didn't realize what i was doing by revolving around ivory so much. you're the most important person to me in this entire world and i would never purposely do anything to hurt you. do you think you'll ever manage to be able to forgive me?"

wednesday stood up, taking a deep breath. "yes, xavier. i forgive you."

he took a step closer. another step. another step.

"i'm ready for a relationship now," she murmured.

xavier leaned down and smashed his lips into hers. wednesday kissed back with no remorse. his hands were on her hips and her hands trailed back up behind his neck.

"god, i've missed you so much." xavier sighed.

wednesday smiled. "i know you have."

he looked down at her, expecting a different response. she smirked and began walking towards the door.

"wednesday addams, get back here right now!" xavier shouted playfully.

he ran and scooped her up into his arms, kissing her again, carrying her to her bed. she fought against him playfully.

they both fell on top of her bed, laughing together, smiling.

"i love you, wednesday addams."

"i love you, xavier thorpe."
