"What if you're wrong?"
Dallas shrugs, hiding his laugh so much he almost chokes on his sandwich. "What if I'm not?"
Tom snorts, easily joining my side. "There's no way you're right."
Even if we're eating our lunch in a classroom, hiding from everyone and everything, I find myself enjoying their presence. Scarlett is my first choice as a friend, always and forever, but she's gone away and these two guys have just abandoned their friends for me.
Me.
"Okay, then tell me what you think." Dallas stays confident in his opinion, although it doesn't make sense. I keep silent, watching Tom and waiting for him to speak up. I know I won't.
He eyes me before noticing I'd rather keep myself on the side and nodding. So he takes me in his team without any more words and starts explaining to Dallas why his conspiracy theory isn't true.
"See, fish aren't the color of food they eat. Why would they even be? There are see-through fish. What would they eat? huh?" Dallas frowns at that, faintly nodding in thought.
"Water?"
"Oh my God," Tom groans, shaking his head. He turns to me, eyes wide with surprise. "How do you put up with him? He's stupid as fuck!"
I blush. "He has other qualities."
Dallas' mouth drops open, his food falling out of his hand right back into his box. "Babe! What is this? You're supposed to defend me!"
My cheeks flame harder. I notice Tom smirking in the corner of my eye and decide that's less embarrassing than kissing Dallas' ass to get him happy again. "And what are you so cocky about?"
Tom snorts again. "Qualities, huh?"
Maybe this was not the least embarrassing choice. "Oh my God!" I gaps in horror, hiding my red cheeks. "I didn't mean that! I meant it as in personality—"
"Personality is an excuse for a small dick," Dallas interrupts. He winks at me. "Which I do not have."
Oh gosh. Can someone kill me now, please? I'll pay for it.
"Okay," I croak out, "I get it."
Dallas winks again. I'm fearing for my life. "Not yet, you're not getting it. We agreed to go slow, remember? I mean, I can go slow with my dic—"
"Okay!" I shout, interrupting him but not caring. How is he this careless with dirty talking?
He smirks, clearly pleased with my reaction. I sink back down on my bench, waiting for the death sentence that'll come out of Tom's mouth.
Instead of that, all I get is chuckling. When I look at him, he's shaking his head, busying himself with his food. He doesn't seem to notice my staring and looks up at Dallas with a grin. "I love his innocence."
