I always enjoyed running. I liked how the adrenaline rushed through my veins giving me this feeling of sudden confidence. Just as if I were able to touch the sky.
But by running I didn't mean running from a deadly gigantic creatures, what I learned were called Titans.
It's been a while since I arrived in Shiganshina District. Maybe two or three weeks and untill now nothing seemed off.
I still didn't know why this place seemed so familiar but at least I knew who I was.
What I didn't understand though was my sudden change of age. I wasn't sixteen anymore. I found myself trapped in my ten years old self.
Was it important to the storyline in this universe?
Honestly I didn't know the answer. But I knew me being younger had to mean something.
I looked around as I was still running in god knows which direction. The blood was everywhere. On the buildings, on the ground...on me.
Was it mine? I didn't know. It could be as well. In this moment I wasn't even sure as my whole body felt numb.
My hands were shaking and my vision got blurry because of tears in my eyes. It all seemed so surreal to me.
I was almost sure that instead of some nice universe, I landed in the hell itself. I started getting paranoid as I hid in the nearest alley.
'What if I die? Would I be able to make it back home or will it end my existence just like that?' I thought hugging my knees to myself as I sat on the ground facing the building wall.
The sun was slowly setting and it was unbelievably silent. As if everyone was dead.
No screams to be heard. No begging for mercy. No sounds of crashed hope.
I was all alone.
Suddenly I heard loud footsteps. Is it how its going to end?
The footsteps were getting closer and louder than ever. I remained still in my position, not bothering to do something as I waited for death.
I gave up.
"Never give up, Evelyn. No matter what" I could almost hear my father's words echoing through my mind.
I ignored his voice knowing I won't stand a chance if I decided to fight the titan.
I closed my eyes, listening to the sound of nearing death.
"There's someone! " I heard a masculine voice. Was it him the whole time?
"Yes! She's alive"
Who was he talking to?
I looked up and saw a rather young man in a Survey Corps uniform.
'Wings of Freedom...' I swear I heard this phrase before. Before I even got here.
My eyes widened at the sight in front of me. There were two of them. The other one was holding a blonde boy in his arms.
The boy looked at me, his eyes reaviling nothing but fear and pain.
I didn't have time to think before I was picked up by one of them as he quickly positioned himself and took of in the air with me in his arms.
"Don't worry kid, you're save now" He said trying to sound comforting and sincere but even I was able to tell that he wasn't sure of anything.
But who was, really?
I opened my mouth to say something but found myself speechless. I was so close to death. Or was I imagining it?
Instead of answering I only let out a small sob as the soldier glanced at me with pity in his eyes. Or was it sympathy? I was just too tired to tell.
After that I didn't remember too much. I was placed on a boat along with the blonde boy and the other civilans who were either too scared too say something or too shocked too move.
But there was this one boy who seemed to be lost in his own rage.
His voice was low and hoarse as he yelled in anger, promising to himself he will get rid of these monsters.
But this voice. It sounded so familiar...
But why?
